AFRP only adopts out cats that have been spayed/neutered. The adoption fee is $150 which helps to cover the cost of all care the animal has received, including their spay/neuter, vaccines, microchipping, and FIV/FeLV testing. Adopters are encouraged to take their new AFRP cat to one of our participating vets for a free wellness check (see list of participating vets).

Amy is a 2-month-old brown tabby with adorable spots on her nose. She came to AFRP from the Salinas Animal Shelter and was raised in foster care with two adult cats (has not been around dogs). Pete and his siblings came to AFRP from the Salinas Animal Shelter and raised in foster care with two adult cats. (Has not been around dogs, but would probably adjust.) Neil is all ears now that he's feeling better! This adorable 8-month-old Lynx Point Siamese came to AFRP from the Salinas Shelter after coming in as a stray with a stubborn ear infection. Turns out Neil needed to have a painful polyp removed from his ear canal, and he's feeling much better now. With big blue eyes and adorable ear-tufts, Neil Catrick Harris has real star quality! Named for racehorses, Seattle Frost and his brother Indigo Prince, also on the web, are fun and frisky 2-month-old siblings that were rescued as abandoned strays in South Monterey County and were raised in foster care. Full of happy purrs and silly antics, Seattle Frost loves to cuddle and loves to play. He's a handsome longhaired tuxedo kitten that appreciates lots of petting and brushing. She not only needed to have her damaged right eye surgically removed, she needed to undergo treatment for ringworm, a fungal skin condition. She is a very well behaved indoor cat, very clean and uses her litter box without fail. He remained very shy and wary for several years, but recently made a huge breakthrough and now enjoys rubbing up against legs, asking for treats and sitting on the laps of those he trusts to ask for petting. Clara Bell is a shy girl and will require a patient adopter who will give her plenty of time to adjust to her new home. Before that she lived with a family that had to surrender her due to some landlord problems. Tootsie loves to rub up against you to ask for petting, and enjoys chasing laser toys and munching on cat grass. She is not overly fond of other cats, and would be in kitty heaven as your one-and-only kitty friend. Outdoor Cats
Do you have a ranch, barn, greenhouse, workshop or studio that could be a safe haven for a feral cat or two? We often have a few cats in our care who have lived their whole lives outdoors, and are not comfortable in our adoption center. They will have already been spayed/neutered, and immunized. If you can provide food, water and shelter for feral cats who needs a safe, secure outdoor home, please contact us. We recommend a good cat fencing system that can be used for outdoor cats or for your indoor cats who want a safe outdoor adventure. Read more about cat enclosures.

Posted 2-27-19. Winston is the sweetest cat around! He's a 10-year-old longhaired grey and white cat that was left behind when his guardian moved away. Winston was living outdoors and being fed by neighbors for years. Now that he is getting older, Winston would really like a home of his own, where he can relax indoors and get plenty of love and attention. He has wonderful litter box manners and he is very easy to handle. Winston enjoys being petted and brushed. Posted 9-6-18. Numsa is a 10-year-old neutered male tuxedo cat with special needs. He suffered a head injury as a kitten that caused him to be blind and deaf on one side. As a result, his depth perception is compromised and he sometimes has difficulty judging distances when jumping or moving around. He walks with a head-tilt and his tongue often sticks out, very cute! He sometimes has issues with urinary crystals and should eat a special diet and drink plenty of water.
