AFRP Cats Looking for Homes - Call (831) 333-0722 if you are interested

Also please visit our adoption locations to see some more of our feline friends.

AFRP only adopts out cats that have been spayed/neutered. The adoption fee is $150 which helps to cover the cost of all care the animal has received, including their spay/neuter, vaccines, microchipping, and FIV/FeLV testing. Adopters are encouraged to take their new AFRP cat to one of our participating vets for a free wellness check (see list of participating vets).

Kittens Available!
sponsor me

We have kittens available for adoption! We typically have over 50 kittens in foster care at any given time. We are doing kitten adoptions a bit differently this year while our adoption locations are closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. If you are interested in adding a kitten to your family, we ask you to fill out an online application and provide us information about any preference you might have regarding coat length, fur color, personality traits or gender. We will then match you up with a kitten and arrange a meeting when he/she becomes available. All AFRP kittens are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and treated for fleas and parasites before adoption. They are typically 8 - 12 weeks old. Our adoption fee for one kitten is $150, or $200 for a pair of siblings. We are currently adopting to residents of Monterey County only. Thank you!

Longhorn
sponsor me

Take of your hat and spurs and settle in with Longhorn and Cowboy, a pair of 5-year-old bonded buddies that need to be adopted together. Longhorn is a longhaired tuxedo and Cowboy is a shorthaired black and white cat. Currently in foster care, these timid cats warm up after they get to know you, and once they feel comfortable they'll mosey on up for petting and chin-scratches. They are perfect gentlemen who use their litter boxes, don't damage the furniture and get along well with other cats and kittens. The nice part about adopting a pair of cats is that they can keep each other company if you are away from the house. A calm and quiet household will be best for these easygoing boys. Two-for-one adoption fee applies. To learn more or arrange a meeting, please fill out an online application. We are currently adopting to residents of Monterey County only.

Daffodil
(Adoption Pending)

Daffodil is a darling 2-month-old brown tabby kitten that was raised in foster care after being left in the night drop at the Monterey County Animal Services. Friendly, energetic and playful, Daffodil will keep you smiling all day long with her silly kitten antics! If you are looking for a healthy and happy little companion, you can't go wrong with Daffodil! While our AFRP adoption locations are closed, we are doing kitten adoptions by appointment only. If you are interested in learning more about Daffodil and arranging a meeting, please fill out an online application. At this time we are adopting to residents of Monterey County only.
Sebastian
sponsor me

Sebastian is a handsome 1-year-old white cat that was rescued from the streets by a good citizen. This nice boy was on the losing end of many cat fights, and now that he's in foster care, he is truly enjoying the good life! Sebastian loves napping in his cat bed, playing with toys, looking out the window, and sitting on your desk while you are working. Like many white cats, it appears Sebastian is deaf or is hearing-impaired. Because of his hearing challenges and the tendency for white cats to develop skin cancer from sun exposure, Sebastian is looking for an indoor-only home as a single cat. He gets along fine with the gentle dog in his foster home. For more about meeting or adopting Sebastian, please fill out an online application. To comply with local COVID-19 travel restrictions, we are adopting only to residents of Monterey County, CA at this time.

Captain Jack
sponsor me

Captain Jack has never found a lap that he doesn't love! He's an exceptionally affectionate 4-year-old that enjoys morning ear scratches and all-day petting. Captain was a adopted from AFRP as a kitten, and he returned to our care when his guardian had to move and could not take him along. This sweet cat has always struggled with eye issues - he has some scarring from a ruptured cornea in one eye, and he has chronic tearing and discharge from both eyes. He has seen a specialist and has been diagnosed with FHV-1 (feline herpesvirus) which can be managed but not cured. He will do best in a happy, stress-free environment, and flare-ups might need to be treated with antibiotics or antiviral medication over his lifetime. This extremely special companion will reward you one hundred-fold for your love and care. You will know he is happy and relaxed when you get a quick little peek of his tongue sticking out! Click here to fill out an online application. In order to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we are adopting only to residents of Monterey County, CA.

Juliette
Meet Juliette, a snow-white 1-year-old beauty with stunning golden eyes. Like many white cats, Juliette is deaf. She can live a normal, happy life with cat guardians that take a few measures to ensure her happiness and safety. Deaf cats need to be indoor-only pets. They rely on their senses of sight and touch, and they often meow more often and more loudly than other cats. Read more about deaf cats here. Juliette feels a bit insecure around other animals, and will be happiest as a single pet in the home. For more information about meeting or adopting Juliette, please fill out an online application. Noel
sponsor me

Senior Special - adoption fee waived. Enjoy the magic of the holiday season all year long with Noel, a super sweet 10-year-old tuxedo cat that would love to snuggle on your lap in front of the fireplace. Noel came to us from the Monterey County Animal Shelter after arriving as a stray from South Monterey County. She had a complete vet exam, senior blood panel and recently had several infected teeth extracted. She's in excellent health for a cat her age, and she is ready to share her love with a person of her own. Noel is currently in foster care. Click here for an online application. In order to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we are currently adopting only to residents of Monterey County, CA.

Puff
sponsor me

Senior Special - adoption fee waived! Puff (short for Cream Puff) is a lovely 12-year-old buff tabby with beautiful sea green eyes. She's a mellow and affectionate cat that was adopted from AFRP as a kitten, and recently returned to our care due to a divorce. Puff is a snuggle queen that loves belly rubs and has a deep, rumbly purr. She has wonderful litter box manners and never scratches furniture. Like many older cats, Puff has renal failure and requires a special diet and subcutaneous fluids several times per week to keep her kidneys happy. She's looking for an adopter that is comfortable taking care of her medical needs. Click here for an online application. Watch Puff's video. In order to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we are currently adopting only to residents of Monterey County, CA.

Phoebe
sponsor me

Senior Special - adoption fee waived! Aged to purr-fection! Phoebe is a lovely 13-year-old brown tabby that loves to rub up against you and play with feather toys. As a senior girl, she does a fair amount of daily napping too! Phoebe has lost her home several times - once due to a divorce, and another time due to a move. She's ready for a third chance! Phoebe is in good health and is working on losing 3-4 pounds. She's the type of cat that loves attention and is a great lap cat, but she can become overstimulated easily, so it's best to watch her cues for when she's had enough petting. An experienced adult adopter would be best. Phoebe is currently in foster care. Click here for an online application. In order to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we are currently adopting only to residents of Monterey County, CA.

Chip
"Attractive single guy with flowing ginger locks looking to hang out with a guy or gal that appreciates an independent spirit." Chip is a 5-year-old orange tabby that came to AFRP from the Salinas Shelter. He had been eking out a living on the streets, and he was in rough shape. Happily, Chip is looking and feeling great after spending a few months in foster care. He is fine with respectful dogs, and seems to get along with kittens and most other cats. He has some skin allergies, but is doing well with special food and medication. Chip is ready to relax with a calm and quiet adopter. Chip is currently in foster care. For more information, please fill out an online application. In order to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we are currently adopting only to residents of Monterey County, CA.
Moonstone
sponsor me

Moonstone is a special 10-month-old Flame Point Siamese Manx kitten that was raised in foster care after being rescued from the streets of South Monterey County. Moonstone suffers from Manx Syndrome (a spinal defect) and has both fecal and urinary incontinence. Moonstone is a sweet boy that will need special care for his lifetime. A tile floor and an environment that can be easily cleaned is helpful when caring for incontinent cats. He'll need a special adopter that can keep him clean and monitor his health. To arrange a meeting with Moonstone, please fill out an online application. In order to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we are currently adopting only to residents of Monterey County, CA.

Maggie
sponsor me

Senior Special - adoption fee waived! Meet Maggie, an amazing 15-year-old tabby who meets life's challenges with cheerful purrs! Maggie lost her home when her guardian could not afford her medical care. Currently in foster care, Maggie is a happy and sweet girl that loves catnip, playing with jingly balls and drinking from her cat fountain. She loves life and is grateful for each new day. She has impeccable litter box manners and while she is not a lap cat, she does like to be by your side. Maggie is FIV+ and since she is not fond of other cats, she'll do best as a single cat in the home. Click here for an online application. In order to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we are currently adopting only to residents of Monterey County, CA.

sponsor me

Tigg is a handsome 14-year-old green-eyed orange tabby with wonderful manners and a mellow personality. He has always been an indoor-only cat and he is happy to keep you company while you watch TV or read a book. He eats a special renal diet to slow the progression of kidney disease, and needs subcutaneous fluids twice a week. Tigger is currently in foster care. Click here for an online application. Watch Tigger's video. In order to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we are currently adopting only to residents of Monterey County, CA.

Lucy was adopted from AFRP as a kitten, and came back to our care when her guardian surrendered her to the SPCA. Lucy is a super sweet cat that would love to spend her golden years in a loving home. She has a sensitive digestive system and we are currently working with the vet to figure out the right combination of food or medications to help her tummy feel better. This will be something an adopter will need to monitor for her lifetime. Lucy is currently in foster care. Click here for an online application. Watch Lucy's video. K.B.
sponsor me

K.B. (short for Kona Baby) is a handsome, playful and athletic 6-year-old black cat who was rescued from the streets as an older kitten and was raised in foster care. He remained very shy and wary for several years, but he does now enjoy asking for treats and sitting on the laps of the one or two people he trusts. He is still very distrustful of strangers, and he's often in hiding. He's looking for a very cat-savvy adopter that understands the needs of semi-feral cats. He does not like to be picked up, and he needs to be sedated in order to go to the vet. Meet K.B. at the AFRP Adoption Center in Pacific Grove - he's one of our "office cats," and we'd love to see him find happiness in an adult, indoor-only home of his own. He is good friends with Clara Bell, and they need to be adopted together. Watch KB's video. Clara Bell
sponsor me

Senior Special - adoption fee waived! Clara Bell is a sweet and shy 9-year-old grey and white cat who was born in an old school bus at a wrecking yard in south Monterey County. She was fed by an employee, but never had the luxury of living as a house cat. Once she trusts you, she loves to be petted and rolls over on her back when you rub her head. Clara Bell is a timid cat and will require a patient adopter who will give her plenty of time to adjust to her new home. Setting her up in a quiet spare bedroom while you are getting to know each other would be perfect. Give Clara Bell a chance and she'll be your loyal little friend! She is best friends with K.B., also on the web, and they need to be adopted together. Clara does not enjoy being picked up, and she needs to be sedated when going to the vet. Watch Clara's video. Tootsie
sponsor me

Tootsie is a 9-year-old brown tabby looking for love! She came to us from a rescue group in Los Angeles that had to close down in 2014. Before that she lived with a family that had to surrender her due to some landlord problems. Tootsie loves to rub up against you to ask for petting, and enjoys chasing laser toys and munching on cat grass. She is not overly fond of other cats, and would be in kitty heaven as your one-and-only kitty friend. Like many cats, Tootsie prefers to be petted and stroked near her head and neck - no belly rubs please! She does bite and strike when overstimulated. Adult, experienced adopter required. If you have worked with challenging cats and can read and respect cat body language, you might be a great match. Tootsie does need to be sedated when visiting the vet. Her adoption fee is waived thanks to a donation from an AFRP supporter. Click here for an online application. In order to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we are currently adopting only to residents of Monterey County, CA.
