Hi, I'm Thor. Adopt Me!

DSH

Brown Tabby

Adult, Male

Perhaps named for the feline Norse god of purrs and head-butts, Thor is an exceptionally affectionate 6-year-old brown tabby who loves to be petted and rubbed all over his body, even his belly! Originally rescued from a Salinas softball field and adopted from AFRP in 2019, Thor recently returned to our care when his family could no longer care for him. Currently in foster care, Thor has a passion for life, as though he knows he’s been given a second chance. He is enthusiastic about everything: playing, eating, looking out the window and interacting with everyone he meets. His favorite toy is a wand with a long colorful caterpillar at the end and he jumps and dashes up the cat tree and down again, from one side of the room to the other, like a much younger cat. When it’s time to relax, Thor loves to curl up with you for some love, purring all the while.

Thor is FIV+ (read more about FIV) and needs to be an indoor-only kitty. Like many cats with FIV, Thor was treated for stomatitis and had to have all but 4 of his teeth removed. He has healed and he is now pain-free. His renal values are a little high so he needs to eat a special veterinary renal diet. Thor has impeccable litter box habits and he is very tidy. This social and well-adjusted cat is not even afraid of the vacuum cleaner! He loves being around people yet he is not needy or clingy. Thor would be a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys an affectionate adult cat that still loves to joyfully play with interactive toys. He needs someone who is willing and able to buy the special renal veterinary diet food, monitor his weight and take him to the vet regularly to manage his renal issue as well as any other health issues that may come up. Thor would love to have access to a comfortable spot with a view out a window and, ideally, a heated electric cat mat to snuggle on for naps. Meet and greets can be arranged once your online application has been received and approved.
