Hi, I'm Sam. I was adopted on December 10!
Shepherd Mix
Tan
Adult, Female
Sweet Sam is a gentle 3-year-old, 60-pound Shepherd/Shar Pei mix looking for her second chance. With soulful brown eyes and a soft golden brown coat, Sam enjoys attention and takes treats from your hand with a very gentle mouth. A bit reserved with new people, once she knows you, Sam greets you with happy wags, licks and wiggles. She enjoys playing with squeaky toys, romping in the yard and playing with other dogs that match her size and energy level. She is indifferent to cats and should do fine with a dog-savvy cat. Sam is house trained and happily sleeps in her crate at night. She knows some basic commands, and she’s eager to learn more. She’s a strong girl that can pull on the leash, so she’ll need an adopter with the physical strength to handle a large, active dog, and someone with the time to continue her training. A great walking, hiking or running partner, Sam is a very active dog that does best with plenty of daily exercise. Due to her size and energy level, we’re looking for an adult adopter or family with kids over age 12. Sam was adopted from AFRP as a puppy, and recently returned to us when her guardian could no longer care for her. If you can give this sweet girl her second chance, please fill out an online application to arrange a meet and greet.
Please note: Due to COVID-19, preference is given to residents of Monterey County and Santa Cruz County.
