Hi, I'm Mikaela. I was adopted on August 13!

Miniature Poodle

White

Adult, Female

If there was an Olympic Gold Medal for wags, Mikaela would be a big winner! She’s a happy and friendly 6-year-old, 12-pound Miniature Poodle who has overcome some major challenges in her life. She originally came to AFRP with an enormous abdominal hernia that was surgically repaired in 2018. She was then adopted, but unfortunately she was returned to our care several years later after becoming obese. Weighing a whopping 22 pounds at the time, she could barely walk and was in need of surgery on both hind knees. Happily, Mikaela has recovered from her orthopedic surgery and she is at a healthy weight. She loves going for walks and she is very well behaved on the leash. Mikaela is house trained and crate trained, and she knows her name, to come when called, sit, and go into her crate on command. Mikaela is a very social dog who loves lap time and attention. She loves interacting with the other dogs in her foster home, and she would be happiest with another dog buddy in her new home. She is. excited about cats, but might do okay with a confident cat that does not run away. It is imperative for her adopter to give her regular exercise and keep her weight below 14 pounds for her lifetime. Regular grooming is required for this breed. Meet and greets with Mikaela can be arranged once your online dog application has been approved.
