Hi, I'm Maxie. I was adopted on March 23!
Yorkie Mix
Black and Tan
Adult, Male
Meet Maxie! This 1-year-old, 11-pound Yorkshire terrier mix can be a bit shy at first, but once he gets to know you, he’s full of happy wags and kisses! He’s currently doing great in foster care after coming to AFRP from the Hitchcock Road Animal Services after being picked up as a stray. This sweet and affectionate dog loves games of fetch and tug; and his favorite toy is a white squeaky duck. He is full of energy and thinks it is great fun to chase squirrels and other critters he might find in his yard. Maxie enjoys his walks around the neighborhood, and he also enjoys watching the neighborhood happenings from his living room window. Maxie is doing well with his house training and he is generally well behaved on the leash, though does get excited when passing other dogs. He still needs to work on his basic obedience commands, and he’ll benefit from training classes. Maxie has a bit of separation anxiety and he’ll do best with an adopter that is home most of the day, and can work with him to feel comfortable when left alone. He has not been exposed to cats, and should do fine with other friendly dogs his own size. Adult adopter or families with kids over age 6 preferred. Meet and greets can be arranged once an application is approved.
Please note: Due to COVID-19, preference is given to residents of Monterey County and Santa Cruz County.
