Hi, I'm Lainey. I was adopted on October 1!
Chihuahua/Terrier Mix
Tan
Adult, Female
Just as sweet as can be, Lainey is a 6-year-old, 15-pound Chihuahua/Terrier mix that raised her puppies in foster care after coming to AFRP as a pregnant stray from the Hitchcock Road Animal Services. Now that her pups Leslie, Larry and Lenny have been adopted, Lainey is ready for a home of her own. Though timid with new people and new situations, once Lainey trusts you she is pure love. Quiet and mellow, this sweet girl is happiest snuggled on the lap of her favorite person. She gets along nicely with other dogs, and she would benefit greatly from having a friendly, stable mentor dog in her new household to help her gain confidence.
Lainey is doing well with her house training skills, and she is quickly learning her basic obedience commands. This sweet and gentle dog has truly blossomed in foster care. She enjoys going for walks and exploring her surroundings. She loves laying in the sunshine and she would enjoy having a securely fenced yard. It will take her a bit to adjust to a new home, so a patient adult household or family with respectful older teens preferred. Lainey had a rough start in life but she will be an amazing companion for an adopter willing to give her a chance. Is your small dog looking for a best friend? Lainey needs to be part of a multi-dog household. Meet and greets can be arranged once your online application is approved.
Please note: Due to COVID and high demand, preference is given to residents of Monterey County and Santa Cruz County.
