Lacey is one lucky pup! She came to AFRP from a local vet clinic after needing emergency surgery to remove a 26″ shoe lace from her intestines. Happily, Lacey has recovered beautifully and she’s feeling great. Currently in foster care, Lacey is a happy and playful 3-year-old, 11-pound girl that gets along nicely with other small dogs and loves to engage them in playful games. She loves to play fetch and she walks nicely on the leash in quiet areas. She is crate trained, doing well with house training and knows her basic commands. She gets along with confident cats after a proper introduction, but she does not do well with large dogs.
Lacey is a smart dog and she’s quite affectionate with the people that she knows and trusts. However she does have quite a bit of fear and anxiety, and she can be reactive and protective. She’s looking for an experienced adult adopter (no kids) with time to give her lots of attention, can head-off negative behaviors and can consistently encourage good manners. She requires a friendly and playful small dog buddy in the home. Lacey can jump very high and she’s an agile climber, so a very secure yard is a must. Some dogs are not social butterflies, and Lacey does best when she is in her own familiar surroundings with people she loves. She’s a fun and fantastic little companion once she feels comfortable. Lacey is currently in foster care, meet and greets can be arranged once your online application has been received and approved.
