Hi, I'm Charlie. I was adopted on October 19!
Beagle Mix
Tan and White
Adult, Male
From the tip of his keen hound nose to the end of his happy tail, Charlie is a loyal friend wrapped in a compact, 27-pound package. This energetic 3-year-old Beagle mix has been enjoying life in foster care since coming to AFRP from the Hitchcock Road Animal Services. Charlie is a friendly and affectionate dog that enjoys attention from people of all ages, and takes treats with a very gentle mouth. Though he is lacking in formal obedience training, this smart boy is eager to learn. He is house trained and sleeps quietly through the night. Charlie is a good boy in the house, and does not chew on anything other than his toy football. He rides nicely in the car and he loves going for nature walks – he does become very excited when he sees a squirrel, deer or blue jay, so hold on tight! When he wants to get a better view, he balances on his hind legs like a little prairie dog – so cute!
Charlie has an abundance of wonderful qualities, but nobody’s perfect. He needs to brush up on his basic commands, learn to stay off the furniture and to be less anxious when left alone. His foster mom calls him Houdini because he’s good at finding escape routes, and he needs a secure area when you are gone. This happy boy loves to run, jump and play ball and he’s a great match for an active adopter that can make sure he gets adequate daily exercise. He is fairly indifferent when meeting other dogs, and he needs a home with no cats (he is very interested in chasing them). Please note: Due to COVID-19, preference is given to residents of Monterey County and Santa Cruz County.
