Hi, I'm Casper. I was adopted on March 4!

Poodle/Terrier Mix

White and Black

Adult, Male

A happy-go-lucky dog today, Casper had a rough start in life. He was rescued as a badly matted and neglected stray that had fended for himself for two months on the streets of Salinas. Initially a  timid boy, Casper blossomed in foster care and he’s now a fun and friendly dog that loves to go for walks, play with his ball or romp with his doggie friends. He sleeps in his crate at night, and he’s doing well with his house training skills. Casper has a great smile and lots of potential! This 2-year-old poodle/terrier mix is working on losing a few pounds to reach his ideal weight of 19 pounds.

Casper was adopted from AFRP in June, and recently returned to our care. Since he knew starvation in his previous life, he tends to guard his food and exhibit resource guarding with other high-value toys, treats and chews. He needs an experienced adopter that can manage this behavior. He also requires regular professional grooming, and an adopter that can keep him at a healthy weight. He’ll do best in a home with another friendly dog buddy, and no cats or children under age 12. A patient, experienced adopter that can continue Casper’s training with positive reinforcement would be ideal. Casper is currently in foster care and he’s available for meet and greets once an application is approved. We are carefully screening potential adopters to make sure Casper’s next adoption is a success.

Please note: Due to COVID-19, preference is given to residents of Monterey County and Santa Cruz County.
