Hi, I'm Asti. I was adopted on September 29!

Border Collie Mix

Black and White

Adult, Female

Asti (aka Piper) is a 1-year-old Border Collie mix looking for a successful match with an adopter with serious herding breed experience. She’s an extremely intelligent and highly energetic dog that will keep you on your toes and will reward her person with a lifetime of love and loyalty. Asti came to AFRP as a young puppy that was one of over 20 dogs confiscated by animal control after being discovered living in deplorable conditions. Asti has come a long way since then, but she does have a few residual behavior challenges.

Asti is crate trained, house trained and knows her basic commands. She is a dog that thrives on learning new things, and she’ll be a great candidate for agility, herding, dock diving or other dog sports. She has a very high energy level and lots of stamina, and she needs three or more hours of vigorous exercise every day. Great running partner! Asti gets along with other active and playful dogs, but she needs a home with no shy cats or other small animals. She’s looking for an adult household or family with dog-savvy kids over age 10 committed to providing structure and can offer her a lifetime of learning and love. This is not a dog for a casual dog owner. To ensure a successful adoption, we require:

  • A highly active adopter
  • A plan in place to work with a positive reinforcement trainer
  • Past herding breed experience

Asti is currently in foster care with a professional trainer, who will help integrate Asti into her new home properly. She’s available for meet and greets once an application is approved. Applications will not be considered unless requirements listed above are addressed.
