Luna
Breed:
Age: 4 years
Weight:
Gender: female
This is Luna. She is 4 years old and was adopted from a breeder in Phoenix, Arizona. Luna is very loving but doesn't do well with other cats. She loves to sit on your lap and be rubbed. She is looking for a home with no more than 1 other cat as multiple cats can make her feel nervous and restless. I would love to find her a good home. My name is Brenda and I can be reached at 831-540-7242. Call me anytime. Email bgonzalez@santaritaschools.org.

Wally
Breed: Beagle/Husky mix
Age: 15 months
Weight:
Gender: male
Posted 5.5.23 He's medium-high energy, in that you can take him on a run with you, but he's not bouncing off the walls all day like some Huskies are. He still very much likes to nap throughout the day. He's much better on walks now also, and doesn't pull as hard. He got along well with the dogs that he lived with (his brother, and a senior Australian Cattle Dog that we already had), as well another foster that we had (small terrier mix). He loves to play, and sometimes plays a little rough/vocally, but he's not aggressive or ever tried to hurt another dog.
He likes cats, but maybe a little bit too much. He doesn't want to hurt them, but he does want to chase them and/or invade their space, and they don't like that. He LOVES all people, absolutely can't get enough attention, and doesn't like to be left alone for too long. He would be an amazing dog for a family with children, because he is very active, and plays gentle with kids. He does need a home with a yard (no apartments) but he doesn't need an entire ranch or anything. He is small enough to curl up on the couch with you, but big enough that he's not under your feet all the time tripping you up.
I'm really bummed that we can't keep him, but I'm not willing to surrender him at the pound until I know that I've tried everything that I can to find him the loving forever home that he deserves. He truly is a great dog. He is potty-trained completely, and can sit/lay, but needs help with the more advanced stuff. He can be crated, and sometimes he is resistant to getting in the crate, but once he is in, he settles down right away. Sometimes it actually seemed like he prefered being in a crate, maybe it felt a little safer to him.
If you know of any resources that can help me rehome Wally, or even at least find him a foster that he can stay with until we can find a home for him, I would be extremely grateful for your help, and I would be willing to help in any way that I can to rehome him, including volunteering, or making a sizeable donation (or donation in-kind) to your organization. He's currently on adoptapet.com, but I have to find somewhere to take him by Thursday evening.

Sir Chunksters
Breed: Bulldog
Age: 7 years
Weight: 60 lbs
Gender: male
Sir Chunkster (Chunky Monkey to his friends), is a 60 pound, 7 year-old English Bulldog. Chunkster has a gentle, affectionate personality and a desire to love and be loved. He adores everyone and thinks he is a lap dog. He sleeps most of the day, likes his chew toys and to roll around on his back to play and get belly rubs.
Chunkster is good with dogs- He has lived with a small senior male dog and two female bully mixes who are close in age to him. He also LOVES to meet all of the neighborhood pups! His only challenge is being a little too friendly for shyer dogs at first, but he quickly adjusts.
Sweet Chunk is housetrained and crate trained. He sleeps in his crate happily at night and hangs out on his bed in the family area when left alone during the day. He LOVES his spiky balls and digging through the toybox to search for new finds to bring into his bed. He is happy to share any of his toys.
In addition to the regular Bulldog maintenance needs, this sweet boy has deformities in his front legs and joint issues in all four legs. He takes an anti-inflammatory medication daily that helps manage swelling and pain. With this medication, he is able to walk up and down a few stairs and go for short walks. Chunky is an excellent example of "Where there is a will there is a way"!
Chunky will do great in a home that loves the unique silliness that is the English Bulldog and will repay your love with lots of grunts, snuggles and snores!
Prior to adoption, all dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm, vaccinated (including rabies, if age appropriate) and microchipped. To see more of our adoptable cats/dogs please visit our website at https://www.svpetproject.org

Benny
Breed:
Age: 10 years
Weight: 14.5lbs
Gender: male
Benny is a sweet senior looking for a home to call his own. He is blind and deaf, but his disabilities don’t get him down. If he falls, he gets right back up and keeps going. Initially Benny is timid with new people and sensitive about being picked up or having his feet or mouth touched. He would do best with an experienced dog owner and mature considerate children. He likes affection but also likes his own space. While enjoying independence, he likes to be in the same room as his human and furry friends where he’ll curl up and go to sleep nearby. Benny enjoys the company of other dogs and cats and will make a great companion for an existing pet.
He’s very polite with other dogs and kitties and gentle while handed food, but he’s a picky eater and doesn’t like most treats. Due to his disabilities, he cannot have access to stairs. He wanders around his space frequently, so access to a large single story space and/or yard would be ideal.
Benny is available to a foster-to-adopt family who can accommodate his disabilities and willing to give him love and support him throughout his golden years. He is currently undergoing medical treatments, so the ability to provide transportation to and from a veterinarian in San Jose is required.
Prior to adoption, all dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm, vaccinated (including rabies, if age appropriate) and microchipped.

Saké
Breed: Pitbull + Chihuahua
Age: 7 years
Weight: 45lbs
Gender: female
Hi there, my name is Saké and I'm a sweet 7-year-old spayed female Pitbull Chihuahua. Unfortunately, my previous family is no longer able to care for me, so I'm hoping to find a new person or family to call my own.
I'm great with children and cats, and I get along with most dogs as long as they are not overly aggressive or hyperactive, although I do need a little time to warm up to new furry friends. I love to play and need daily exercise to stay happy and healthy. I'm looking for a patient and consistent person who will spend time with me and continue my training.
I'm a loyal and affectionate companion to those I know and love, and I'm already crate trained and eager to please my new person.
If you're looking for a furry friend who will bring joy and love into your life, I’d be an excellent choice. Please contact Mahari or Mahalath for more information and to schedule an interview to make sure I'm the right fit for you and your family.

Scout
Breed: French Mastiff Mix
Age: 3
Weight: 70lbs
Gender: male
This is Scout! He is a three year old mix, half French mastiff, quarter border collie, and quarter Australian Sheppard. He weighs about 70 lbs of mainly muscle and is a fairly fast runner. He is a great dog; neutered, house trained, crate trained, and good with other dogs outside of his home. He knows basic commands as sit, down, stay, come, shake, bed, toy, but has a short attention span and would not recommend off leash. As he is half mastiff he can be protective and will be wary/sometimes growl at people who he doesn’t know trying to approach within his home, but fine once introduced. He has never had any issues with other dogs at dog parks or beaches, but is scared of children and will stay away from them. He is currently in Prunedale, CA. He would be best in a home with a yard to run in or with someone who is active, as he gets lots of energy in the afternoon. If you are interested or have any questions please reach out to me at makenna@makennawhite.com. Thank you!

Boots
Breed: Australian Shepard Mix
Age: 3
Weight: 47 1lbs
Gender: male
Boots is a smart, fun, curious guy who'll just about knock your socks off! This kid's polite, easygoing demeanor when he meets new people belies the fact that he's also a pretty incredible athlete. Fetch is his game, and there's definitely at least one major league infielder who could learn a thing or two from this fellow. When he's not catching and retrieving, Boots would be just fine spending quality time at home getting lots and lots of pets! He would like to be the only dog in the home so he can be the center of attention. Boots currently weighs approximately 47lbs. If you're interested in learning more about Boots, contact our adoptions desk for more information at (707) 542-0882.

Apollo
Breed: Staffordshire
Age: 4 years
Weight: 65 1lbs
Gender: male
Apollo is a 4 year old Staffordshire terrier lab mix who loves nothing more than to snuggle and love on his human. He is smart, gentle, snuggly, and playful. He is 65lbs. Apollo is up to date on all vaccinations and is neutered. He loves to sunbathe and be outside with his human. He has a hard time trusting males and struggles with change, so he will need a home that is stable (not moving a lot) and the male in the home needs to be there enough to build a relationship with him (not in and out traveling for work). Apollo does have anxiety and will need help with going to the vet and groomer. He has allergies in the fall/winter and eats Zignature kangaroo allergy friendly food. He loves to play with other dogs and has never had an incident while at doggie daycare, but he sometimes plays like a puppy and that can scare some bigger dogs. He’s patient and gentle with kids but would do best in a home with older kids because younger kids make him anxious. He is crate trained, house broken, and does great in his kennel. He is the most lovable guy who needs someone to help him with anxiety in an environment that is stable and calm. Apollo is located in Lacey, WA. Contact: Sydne Brito 618-925-7171. Kiki
Breed: Pit Bull Mix
Age: 1 year
Weight: 50 1lbs
Gender: female
Kiki is great with people, currently housebroken, and still learning commands. She is one of the most snuggly & affectionate pups around! Her favorite spot to hang out and relax is in your lap. She is calming down however she still has plenty of puppy energy. She love car rides. Kiki needs a home without cats or small animals and she needs a lot of play time. She is very affectionate with people and she can play nice with the right same size dog. The best would be someone willing to train her and dedicate a lot of time to her. Contact 831-277-0604 for more information.

Buddy
Breed: Rottweiler/Kelpie
Age: 6-7 yrs.
Weight: 70 1lbs
Gender: male
Check out this exuberant and handsome boy, Buddy! His whole buddy wiggles when he sees you! He is 6-7ish years old, looks like Rottweiler/Kelpie, and weighs about 70 lbs. He is neutered, recently got all his vaccines, and was microchipped. He has a strong prey drive and must have a home without cats or livestock. He is friendly with dogs. Buddy has a lot of energy and needs room to run and play in his next home. His indoor manners are very good – he doesn’t go on the furniture, jump on people, or show food aggression. He knows to sit before eating, going out the door, etc. He is responsive to corrections, but knows few commands. Buddy is living with us while we help a neighbor find him a new home because of a divorce and neither person can keep the dogs.
Buddy is a sweet, playful dog who deserves a home of love and engagement!

Keira
Breed: Husky
Age: 5 yrs.
Weight:
Gender: female
Keira is a 5 year old spayed husky, a good family dog. She is spunky and cute, she loves attention but does not demand it like many of her 4 legged friends. Unfortunately, Keira's family has downsized homes, moved across the country, and they are constantly traveling now with no home base. She loves adventures but wants to have a permanent home again and it will be another year before her family goes back to their half acre yard with her convenient dog door giving her unlimited access to her indoor exclusive dog space. Keira is not a fan of fireworks or thunderstorms (which are common on the east coast). Her family adores her but wants her happy and not having scary thunder storms on the west coast is a big plus. Keira is not used to being crated but is doing well with it. She is energetic so not having to be crated is optimal. Keira's family rescued her as young puppy in Charleston SC and know she was born close to Halloween. She was assigned a Halloween bday! She just turned 5. She is a bi colored eye husky, her mom's favorite. Keira loves being outdoors, more than any dog her family has ever had. She is not prey driven like a normal husky, just known to try to catch bees which gives her a funny looking face when she gets stung. Keira would do great on her own as shes more independent than most dogs but is fine with others, just won't be super dependent on the other pups. Keira needs a family that is willing to love her, and not move around much. She would love you to take her on walks, runs, and/or all your adventures! Keira is a cute, small husky that will make an amazing companion. Contact Alyson Douglas: alysondouglasqc@gmail.com

Baylea (pronounced Bailey)
Breed: border collie mix (black and white)
Age: 7 yr
Weight:
Gender: Female
Baylea is a very fun and well-trained dog. Some of the commands she knows are: sit, stay, down, come, place, shake, beg, high-five. She is incredibly smart and would love to learn more tricks. She is also crate trained, house trained, great on leash, and treadmill trained. Baylea is extremely athletic and loves going on hikes and practicing agility whether jumping up on a park bench during a walk or running through an at home agility course. Baylea loves puzzles and a great way to give her a mental challenge is scent work. She is highly food motivated and will quickly find any toy with a treat in it so you will have to get creative with your hiding spot.
Baylea is being re-homed due to conflict in the home with another dog. Also because of her owner’s unpredictable travel/deployment cycle in the military she isn’t getting the attention that she deserves. She is looking to be in a home as the only pet and in a household with no kids. Despite her conflict at home she has shown an ability to be social with other dogs when introduced calmly outside of her home. She would be happy to go on leashed group walks/hikes with friends. Just isn't good with the dog in the home and most dogs, but has been social with some. She LOVES people, playing, very social with people. Call or text (908) 531-1775 William Singer or will.singer86@gmail.com

Luna
Breed: shepherd mix (brown and black)
Age: 6 yrs
Weight:
Gender: Female
Luna is a sweet, well-trained dog who loves to have a job. She would love an active owner who can take her on walks, runs, bike rides, and hikes. Luna is very athletic and in addition to enjoying physical activity she has also shown a drive for scent work using treats hidden in a toy as well as using essential oils on a q-tip. She knows several commands including sit, stay, down, come, place, shake, beg, high-five. She is also crate trained, house trained, great on leash (and will wear a weighted backpack for extra work), and treadmill trained. She is happy to show her agility on walks/hikes by jumping up on bleachers in a park, climbing up a rock, or balancing on a log. Luna absolutely loves swimming, but I recommend keeping her on a long line leash to keep her in a specific area or else she’ll swim across an entire lake.
Areas to work on: Luna is being re-homed due to conflict in the home with another dog. Also because of her owner’s unpredictable travel/deployment cycle in the military she isn’t getting the attention that she deserves. Luna is shy around new people and is looking for a calm home environment and to be the only pet and in a household with no young kids. She has a high prey drive (squirrels, ducks, geese) and will need an owner who can manage her behavior around them. Lure training has been a fun and effective way to work on her impulse control while providing an outlet to honor her instincts. Luna is a great dog who needs a safe home with an active owner who wants an incredibly fun companion.
She maybe ok with dogs with the right intro, no cats or kids, maybe calm kids 12 and older. She's shy at first but warms up with people and is then very social, loves affection, playing, and running. She's the dream hiking, biking or running companion! She's very respectful while playing and doesn't get possessive of toys or food. When playtime is over you can grab the toy from her no problem and she is not a big handful/jumpy type dog. She'll play as long as you want to and then is happy to sit by your side or relax in her bed or crate. Call or text (908) 531-1775 William Singer or will.singer86@gmail.com

Pushka
Breed: Pit bull-mix
Age:
Weight:
Gender: Female
Pushka is the most amazing and loving dog, she will follow you everywhere and loves constant attention and cuddles. She is very athletic, loves to go on long walks and hikes, and she likes to go backpacking too. Her favorite activity is tug of war! She was rescued as a puppy after being raised and abandoned by a homeless caretaker and has come a really long way in a short time. She has extensive training through Doggy-Do-Good in San Louis Obispo, and knows many commands including sit, stay, off, leave it. She is fully potty trained. She is up on all shots, and is in outstanding health. She is crate trained, and can stay in her crate when I am away from the house.
Pushka is a very strong and athletic pit bull-mix and she has several special needs. She is extremely dog aggressive, and has a very strong chase reflex. She can sometimes demonstrate guardian behaviors such as barking and growling at strangers, especially men. In my opinion she will require a home with a healthy and experienced dog owner who can exercise the discipline she thrives under. A home with children or small animals will not be a good fit for her. She is extremely athletic and requires daily exercising, and will need a backyard with a strong fence. She is incredibly loyal and loving, and if you are looking for a lifelong couch cuddle bug she will love you every day of your life. It is with a heavy heart that I even consider parting with her, however my partner and I are moving and there will be several small dogs present, and she would have to spend much time alone or separated and I don’t want that for her. I love my dog and cherish her, and will help however I can in the transition process to finding a new home. If you are interested in arranging a meeting or have questions please contact Eric at 831-402-8832, texts preferred.

Rumi
Breed: Shepherd Mix
Age: 2 Years
Weight:60 lbs
Gender: Male
Posted 8-13-22. Sweet 2 year old German Shepherd/Border Collie mix seeking a home that has time and space to care for this active and energetic boy! He needs a lot of space to be outside or someone with time to take him on two good walks per day. He was rescued from a homeless person and now that he is well nourished and healthy we need to find him an appropriate home. He loves to play with other dogs but can get rough. I would recommend he be in a home without other dogs for now but he does live with other dogs. He is housebroken and has some training. He walks well with a gentle leader, knows sit, down, wait, come, leave it and take it. Wish we could keep him bt spend too much time at work during the day to properly attend to him. He is neutered, has his shots, and is in training now. He weighs about 60lbs. He has some resource guarding issues around dogs, not humans. He gets excited when meeting new dogs and barks a lot. We are working on that. Thank you for considering. We live in New Monterey.

She can be a bit fearful in new situations and with new people, but once she warms up to you she is a very loyal and affectionate friend. Hunter
Breed: Treeing Walker Coonhound
Age: 3 Years
Weight: 56 lbs
Gender: Male
Posted 2-8-22. Hunter is a handsome 3 1/2 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound in need of a new home after his guardian moved overseas. He is a sweet and affectionate dog that has had extensive obedience training and is house trained. He is healthy, neutered, vaccinated and chipped. This is an active breed and Hunter will do best in a home where he gets regular walks and has a nice backyard where he can stretch his legs. Like most hounds, Hunter is vocal and would not do well as an apartment dog. Hunter loves playing with other dogs and does well when taken to the dog park. He has not had experience with cats, and most hounds do have a prey drive for small furry animals. Hunter loves people and he is good with gentle kids. He's a good match for an experienced dog person that can continue his training, give him lots of love and plenty of time during the day. Hunter is not an AFRP dog and currently is in a temporary home in the South Bay Area. For more information please email Anne at alakstig@gmail.com

Boston
Breed: Malinois Mix
Age: 2 Years
Weight: 60 lbs
Gender: Female
Post renewed 4-26-22. Boston is a 2-year-old spayed female Belgian Malinois mix that is looking for a quiet forever home. She loves other dogs and would do well in a home with another pup to play with. She loves going got the dog park, playing fetch and snuggling with her humans. She is crate trained, knows her obedience commands and learns very quickly. She would enjoy doing dog sports such as agility or nose work. Boston takes some time to warm up to new people, but when she does, she loves to snuggle and play. She is a typical "mouthy Mal" and would do well with an owner that has experience with this breed or other high-drive working dogs. Boston will do best in a home with plenty of outdoor space, no cats and no young children. She's looking for an owner that can continue her counter-conditioning and desensitization training, and help show her the world is not a scary place. Boston is not an AFRP dog and she currently lives in Oakland. If she sounds like a good fit for your family, please email Lisa at homeforboston@gmail.com
