Debbie Pittman |
|
| Fostering a mom and puppies can be quite challenging. It requires an intensive 8-10 week commitment of time, energy and patience. Regardless, Debbie Pittman has stepped up time and time again to give abandoned mom dogs and puppies the safe haven they need until they are ready to be adopted. Debbie admits that it can be quite a "juggling act" to keep the puppies supervised, clean, safe and healthy. She knows that despite the hard work, the rewards are enormous. "Whenever I've got a litter of pups, any time work gets tough or I get stressed and I need a pick-me-up, I can just go to the puppy pen and get instant unconditional love from a bunch of soft, warm, cuddly babies. Also it's lots of fun when people start coming to adopt the puppies, because the new families are always so excited about picking their new pet." Debbie would recommend fostering moms and puppies to anyone who is looking for an extremely rewarding foster experience that is also a lot of fun. In fact, many of the families who have adopted her foster puppies continue to keep in touch with her. "The most rewarding thing about fostering is hearing back from the people that have adopted the dogs and puppies I have fostered. They tell me how glad they are to have their new pet and they are always very thankful for the work AFRP does to save the animals and find them loving, safe homes. People send pictures and emails and funny stories about the animals so I can keep up with how they are doing in their new homes." Thanks to Debbie's extraordinary efforts, dozens of homeless puppies and their mothers have made it safely out of the shelters, and were given the chance to become beloved family pets. Thank you Debbie for all your hard work!
