Volunteer Spotlight

Camae and Shelby and Cobra.

Camae Pollock's entrance into AFRP's volunteer program began innocently enough. She adopted an AFRP kitten from the Santa Cruz PETsMART about a year and a half ago, and started making regular trips to visit the other cats there still waiting for homes. While there, Camae met volunteer Annette Zoll, who quickly persuaded her to become an official volunteer.

Camae jumped right in, fostering kittens, cleaning cat cages and helping with weekend adoption days. She was hooked! Her enthusiasm was fueled by the rewards of helping animals, and she soon expanded her commitment by
developing relationships with shelters from Salinas to San Jose in order to rescue more animals in need. It wasn't long before she started rescuing and fostering puppies too.

"When you release your foster animals to their new homes . . . that's just priceless," says Camae. She readily admits that being a foster home has changed her life. In return, she has changed the lives of the many homeless dogs and cats she has nurtured and placed in loving homes. Without her efforts, their fates would have been much different.

In just this past six months, Camae has offered a safe haven to over 20 puppies and 40 cats and kittens who were in need of temporary foster care. With a commitment like that, we can only imagine how many more lives will be saved by Camae, and the many other dedicated AFRP foster volunteers like her. Thank you Camae!
