Ellie Brookman

Animal Friends Rescue Project is lucky that Ellie Brookman decided to attend the P.G. Good Old Days Celebration 3 years ago. She learned about AFRP from our information booth there, and the rest is history! Ellie immediately became a volunteer, and has contributed her time and energy to AFRP ever since.

From fundraising to presentations to school groups, Ellie is always willing to pitch in and help. Twice a month she serves as an AFRP adoption counselor, informing the public about our organization and facilitating adoptions at our regular adoption days. For much of 2003, she took on the responsibility of organizing the adoption events and scheduling the volunteers for them.
"The most rewarding part of volunteering for AFRP obviously is helping to find new homes for the homeless cats and dogs, and in many cases, really knowing that they’re going to a great home. A bonus for me is having some great volunteers as new friends."
When asked what advice she would give to someone interested in volunteering for AFRP, Ellie said, "One of the things AFRP most needs is committed volunteers. So I’d say a new volunteer should consider and understand the time and energy that it takes, and that it’s important to be truly committed and reliable."
