Looking For a Home

Tess is hoping for a home for the holidays. She's a friendly and gentle lab/shepherd mix who lost her home earlier this year when her family could no longer keep her. Unable to find Tess a home on their own, her family finally left her at their local shelter. Sadly, Tess was so depressed at the shelter that the family brought her back home and almost made the heart-wrenching decision to put her to sleep.

Fortunately, after a plea for help went out, several AFRP foster families stepped forward to give this deserving dog a second chance. At age nine Tess is considered a senior dog, but she is still very active and has lots of love and many years of companionship to share with a family of her own. She has wonderful house manners and knows the basic obedience commands. She gets along great with other dogs, dog-savvy cats and children. She loves the water and enjoys cooling off on warm days by wading in a pond or wading pool.

Tess is generally in good health but recently had a health crisis when her kidneys stopped functioning properly due to a severe kidney and bladder infection. She fought for her life at the vet hospital and spent three days receiving lifesaving fluids and antibiotics. She made a remarkable recovery and is now doing very well. She's a fighter and is not ready to give up on her dream of once again having a loving family of her own.

Can you give Tess the home for the holidays she's hoping for? Please give us a call at 831-333-0722 or fill out an online adoption application.

Every Life Counts

Tess is just one of thousands of animals AFRP have rescued since 1998.

AFRP has a lifetime commitment to every animal that comes into our care. We do not put animals down because they have been with us too long or have special medical needs. Tess is anxious to find a permanent home because although she is off the streets and safe--she'll quickly tell you that being an orphan is not fun. She wants to find a special family to call her own.

AFRP depends on volunteers and donations from the general public to rescue approximately 1,900 dogs and cats each year. Won't you help us save more dogs like Tess?
