Looking For a Home

Peppy was so shy when he first came to us from the Salinas Shelter, he was afraid to leave the safety of his crate. He would tremble with fear when he was asked to interact with humans. That's why we are excited to share the news that Peppy has blossomed into a happy, playful little pup who joyfully leaps into the arms of his foster mom to ask for love! Now about 10 months old, Peppy is finally ready for a home of his own.

While still a bit reserved when meeting new people, a treat, a gentle word and a chest-rub are all it takes to earn Peppy's trust. He walks nicely on the leash and his very favorite activity is going for a ride in the car, the longer, the better! He loves to curl in your lap as you watch a movie or read a book, and is perfectly house trained. Peppy is worlds away from the terrified little Chihuahua mix pup he was last September.

Though Peppy now includes humans in his circle of friends, his very best buddies are four-legged. He loves other dogs both large and small, and enjoys meeting new dogs at the park or at the beach. He is also very good with cats and shows them lots of respect. Peppy's perfect afternoon would be spent romping in the yard with his doggie friends on a sunny day, pausing for the occasional game of tug-of-war. He would love to go to a home with another friendly dog or two!

When Peppy first came into our care, we worried that he might not ever get over his extreme fearfulness. So it is nothing short of a miracle to see him now, enjoying life the way a dog should. He might always be a bit bashful in new situations, but now Peppy's ready to make that leap not only into the arms of his foster mom, but into the arms of a loving adopter. If you are the special person who'd like to welcome Peppy into your life, please give us a call at 831-333-0722 or fill out an online adoption application.

Every Life Counts

Peppy is just one of thousands of animals AFRP have rescued since 1998.

AFRP has a lifetime commitment to every animal that comes into our care. We do not put animals down because they have been with us too long or have special medical needs. Peppy is anxious to find a permanent home because although he is off the streets and safe--he'll quickly tell you that being an orphan is not fun. He wants to find a special family to call his own.

AFRP depends on volunteers and donations from the general public to rescue approximately 1,900 dogs and cats each year. Won't you help us save more animals like Peppy?
