Looking For a Home

Molly arrived at the Monterey County Animal Services in a sad state of neglect, too sick to be put up for adoption. Her skin was red, swollen and inflamed and she had lost much of her fur due to a severe case of demodectic mange and a secondary yeast infection. Though someone had given up on Molly, Molly hadn’t given up hope. Despite her discomfort, Molly had a wag in her tail and a twinkle in her eye. This sweet dog was eager for a second chance.

Since then Molly has thrived in foster care. Soothing baths, nutritious meals, fresh air and exercise have worked wonders; and though Molly’s coat is still a bit sparse, it continues to fill in. “When I went to pick her up she looked quite pathetic,” says Day, Molly’s foster mom. “Skin was peeling off her back and her hair was dropping in sheets. She was very thin. For me, seeing this little dog start to feel better, and watching her prance with self esteem when we’re out for walks has made me realize that I was the one worrying about how she looked, not Molly. She has shown me that beauty is SO much more than physical appearance!”

A delightfully affectionate and well-mannered little dog, Molly truly has a beautiful spirit. She is house trained and sleeps quietly in her crate all night. She is gentle, responsive and eager to learn. She knows “sit,” “stay,” “wait,” and is easily corrected. Molly loves playing with her favorite stuffed lion toy, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. She is uninterested in cats, and would probably do fine in a household with felines. She enjoys going on outings to the beach or the woods, and stays right beside you to enjoy your company. Molly is a sweet little soul with a lifetime of love to share with the person who welcomes her into their life.

Every Life Counts

Pogo is just one of thousands of animals AFRP have rescued since 1998.

AFRP has a lifetime commitment to every animal that comes into our care. We do not put animals down because they have been with us too long or have special medical needs. Pogo is anxious to find a permanent home because although she is off the streets and safe--she'll quickly tell you that being an orphan is not fun. She wants to find a special family to call her own.

AFRP depends on volunteers and donations from the general public to rescue approximately 1,900 dogs and cats each year. Won't you help us save more cats like Pogo?
