Looking For a Home

Choji may have trouble walking in a straight line, but that doesn’t mean he can’t make a beeline for your lap – it just takes him a bit longer to get there! Born with a neurological condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia, seven-year-old Choji has some mild tremors and some problems with his coordination that causes him to wobble and zigzag a bit when he walks. When he’s resting, his tremors disappear and you’d never know he was different from other cats.
Though Choji will always have difficulties with his motor skills, he is resourceful and gets around just fine. He is not in pain and can expect to live a healthy, normal lifespan and does not require any special medical care or medicine. He doesn’t want you to feel sorry for him – after all, he thinks he’s a perfectly normal cat! He craves all the same things other cats do: a cozy spot for napping, gentle stroking, fresh food and water, and the comfort that comes from being loved.

What Choji lacks in coordination, he makes up in sweetness and lovability. He rubs up against you for attention, and loves being brushed and cuddled. He’s the ultimate lap cat and treasures the time he spends with his person. Instead of thinking of Choji as a special-needs cat, we’d like to think of him as just plain special.

Every Life Counts

Choji is just one of thousands of animals AFRP have rescued since 1998.

AFRP has a lifetime commitment to every animal that comes into our care. We do not put animals down because they have been with us too long or have special medical needs. Choji is anxious to find a permanent home because although he is off the streets and safe--he'll quickly tell you that being an orphan is not fun. He wants to find a special family to call his own.

AFRP depends on volunteers and donations from the general public to rescue approximately 1,900 dogs and cats each year. Won't you help us save more dogs like Choji?
