Looking For a Home

C.W. (short for Car Wash) could tell some interesting tales if he could speak. He'd probably start with the adventure that landed him behind a local car wash, injured, starving and in desperate need of help. He'd recount being rescued by a kind human, and how a caring vet repaired his paw and his injured tail. He'd surely remember the day the nice lady adopted him from the AFRP Adoption Center and took him home with her. Finally, a home of his own with a warm place to sleep and regular meals!

C.W. loved his home and would tell of his brave battle with a marauding tomcat -- but he wouldn't want to admit that he was on the losing end of that fight, and ended up contracting FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) from a bite wound. Not wanting to sound like a complainer, C.W. would probably gloss over his struggles with allergies, and how sometimes he'd itch so badly he'd lick and lick until his skin was scabbed and bleeding. He'd avoid telling about the painfully sad day his owner tearfully returned him to AFRP when she could no longer care for him.

C.W. is a sweet and gentle 5-year-old buff-colored tabby looking for a second chance. His foster mom calls him a little love bug! When he's in your lap he kneads his paws with happiness and gives you little head butts to encourage you to keep petting! He loves to be carried, held, kissed and cuddled. C.W. has a cute gravelly voice and greets you by running over and flopping upside-down on your feet, so you can rub his tummy. He likes to play hide-and-seek behind the furniture and loves feathered toys.

So why hasn't a playful and affectionate cat like C.W. found a new home? Perhaps he's just waiting for a special person who doesn't mind that C.W. comes with a few health issues that need to be monitored. Allergy testing showed that C.W. is sensitive to quite a few allergens, and he needs to eat a special food and take a daily prednisone tablet to keep him from getting itchy and uncomfortable. Being FIV+ means that C.W. needs an indoor-only home, so that he won't pass the virus to another cat if he were to get into a fight. Cats with FIV can live perfectly long, happy lives. (Click here to read more about FIV.)

We're hoping C.W.'s happiest tale is yet to come. Do you have room in your heart for this special cat that is so deserving of love? Please give us a call at 831-333-0722 or e-mail us.

Every Life Counts

C.W. is just one of thousands of animals AFRP have rescued since 1998.

AFRP has a lifetime commitment to every animal that comes into our care. We do not put animals down because they have been with us too long or have special medical needs. C.W. is anxious to find a permanent home because although he is off the streets and safe--he'll quickly tell you that being an orphan is not fun. He wants to find a special family to call his own.

AFRP depends on volunteers and donations from the general public to rescue approximately 1,900 dogs and cats each year. Won't you help us save more animals like C.W.?
