Looking For a Home

Rescued from the Monterey County Shelter after coming in as a stray, Bruster, a 9-month-old, 45 pound pit bull terrier, has been hard at work in his foster home learning all the things he needs to know to become a wonderful ambassador for his breed. He is crate trained and house trained, and is learning his basic training skills. He excels at responding to voice commands, and is well-behaved around the other dog and cat in his foster home.

Pit bulls have been demonized by the media, but thousands of pit bull owners across the country will tell you they're the best dogs ever. Bruster's foster parents, Stepheni and Jared, love the breed. They are the proud parent of their own pit bull, and have been through bully breed specific training at BadRap, a highly respected pit bull welfare organization based in Oakland. Stepheni and Jared take fostering very seriously, and are making sure Bruster will be a wonderful companion for his next family. They have even created a blog for Bruster and keep it updated with his latest escapades and achievements.

Bruster is a sweet pup brimming with unconditional love. His main goal in life is to have fun and to please his human friends. He's a fun bundle of energy and loves to hike, run, frolic at the beach and make new buddies at the dog park. He is great off-leash, not going more than six feet away before turning back to check in on you. He loves to run and play just as much as he likes to snuggle on the couch. A bit rambunctious for small children, he'd be a fine match for an active adult household or family with teens or older kids.

Bruster knows he can't change opinions overnight, but he's doing his best to fight the pit bull stereotype by winning the hearts of everyone he meets. Every Life Counts

Bruster is just one of thousands of animals AFRP have rescued since 1998.

AFRP has a lifetime commitment to every animal that comes into our care. We do not put animals down because they have been with us too long or have special medical needs. Bruster is anxious to find a permanent home because although he is off the streets and safe--he'll quickly tell you that being an orphan is not fun. He wants to find a special family to call his own.

AFRP depends on volunteers and donations from the general public to rescue approximately 1,900 dogs and cats each year. Won't you help us save more dogs like Bruster?
