Adopt Chip - A well mannered dog!

Chip is a very nice 18 month old Shepherd mix that was originally rescued from the Monterey County Shelter when he was just a few months old. Just a year later, he ended up homeless when his family moved away and could not take him with them. He is a well mannered dog and is an obedience school graduate and knows basic commands. Chip has been attending doggy day care once a week since he was a young pup. Although he is in boarding now with AFRP, we continue to take him to doggy day care to keep some of the familiar routine he has known his whole life and to help him adjust to life without his family.

As you can see, Chip is a nice dog that is eager to sit, stay, and lay down for a treat or just a for little love and affection. He was a little confused when we first got him and waited and waited for his family to return to pick him up and go home. He is in boarding now, and seems to be adjusting to his new life. We are looking for someone to foster Chip or, even better, adopt him.

Chip is an energetic dog. He would do well with a family that jogs, takes long walks, and hikes. He loves to get out and get lots of exercise. That is when he is happiest. He does have issues with some dogs and needs a strong leader type of person to guide him.
