Here are some of the rabbits available for adoption

.
The following rabbits are under the care of Kelly Lehrian, AFRP board member and owner of Posh Pets, and AFRP Rabbit Program Volunteer, Lisa Redmond. All the rabbits are located at Posh Pets, 160 Fountain Ave., in Pacific Grove or are in foster care. Please stop into Posh Pets to meet the adoptable rabbits or call Posh Pets at (831) 375-7387 or Lisa at (831) 883-1734 or email kelly@lehrian.com. or lisabunnybuns@aol.com

These rabbits were rescued from animal shelters because they were at risk of being euthanized due to space and time constraints at the shelters. We do not accept rabbits from the public.

In order to ensure that a rabbit is the right match for your family, potential adopters are required to go through an interview process and fill out an application. All rabbits are adopted out as house rabbits only. For more information about owning a house rabbit go to The House Rabbit Society.

All rabbits have been spayed/neutered and come with a free exam from the Avian and Exotic Clinic in Monterey. The adoption fee is $50-$65. The adoption fee helps to cover the cost of the care the animal has received.

Harley
He is a stunning black w/white markings baby boy. He is one of AFRP's most recent rescues from our local shelter. He is a soft friendly house rabbit. Harley likes to explore the house and hide under his wicker basket and binky when he is excited. He is a small petite dwarf mix. These little guys go quick so call ASAP if you would like to meet him.
Sophie, Sahara, & Squiggy
Sophie & Squiggy Fostered to Adopt!
Sahara Adopted!
While walking her dog, Michelle came across a house having a garage sale and selling baby bunnies. She asked them where the rabbits were from and told them That she works with rabbit rescue. She was only expecting one or two litters, but what she found was shocking. The people at this house have a population of about 100 rabbits living free in their dog kennel area on the side of the house. They were told they had two males rabbits, but one ended up being a female . They had a litter a month later. Female rabbits can get pregnant the day they give birth! Many people do not know that the male needs to be separated immediately and the babies need to be with their mother for 8 weeks. The people started selling the babies, but no one bought any. Yet, no one at their house thought to call a vet or local animal rescue about getting help for the rabbit problem they had.
Mishka
Fostered to Adopt!
MISHKA is a Carmel elite bunny, high class, & very proper! He knows his manners, prefers classical music & a beautiful view from his custom built condo. Mishka is a "surrender" to the AFRP & was neutered at Avian Clinic on 4/16/2010. He is young , approx 3 mos old & extremely sweet, cuddly & clean. It is fair to say he may be slightly spoiled having been fed organic produce & bottled water. Not that we demand the same but he would if possible, be treated like a king! Available to ADOPT or FOSTER.
Strawberry
This lovely all white, ruby eyed sweetie STRAWBERRY is a bunny of deception! She is a total package of sweet and playful, napper and leaper, loves to run then flop down. Always curious and loves to toss bunny toys everywhere. Her ruby eyes make her see the world a bit different than other bunnies. Sunlight is hard on her so she prefers to be indoors. Maybe a friend to bunny bond with? She is spayed and is now 2 years old. Her family surrendered her because they didn't want to care for her anymore. She was born at the Salinas City Shelter May 25th, 2008.
Wiley Boy
I am the last of the New Mexico rescue of 334 bunnies! I was neutered 10/7/09 I can't decide if I am a Lop or not, so I keep my right ear up & my left ear down. I became an AFRP Rescue bunny on 10/9/09. I endured a very long car ride all the way from New Mexico & am happy to be here where the people treat me like a king!  I am well trained but have one demand, that is I LOVE to dig! I am otherwise an extremely well behaved, clean, potty trained, and hungry for treats. I prefer to have a space to hang out in all my own, a pen or proper sized cage. I don't love being held but like to be around wherever the action is. I'm still young enough to train......I am lonely! Available for fostering or adoption today!Contact Lisa at 883-1734 lisabunnybuns@aol.com.
Frazzle Dazzle Doodle
This fuzzy baby boy came down from the Sacramento SPCA. We consider him a precious gift in our system & promised we would find him the very best forever home. He is not even 2 months old, not ready for neutering, but can be a "Foster to Adopt". He needs daily gentle combing & a hay rack as his fur tends to attract hay & tangles! Sweet as a button!
I am currently at my foster mom Lisa's house. She says you can call her anytime to make an appointment. (831) 883-1734 Email Lisa for more details at lisabunnybuns@aol.com
Winnie & Ninja
These 2 are newly weds! Ninja's sister friend was adopted & Winnies brother friend was adopted so we put these two together so they could snuggle during these colder nights. Winnie,  the taupe/light brown beauty is a sweet young neutered boy recued from the horrendous New Mexico rescue. Ninja, the soft black little spayed girl, was on death row in Santa Cruz. Both are approx 8 mos young! They found love with each other, now they will wait under the AFRP RABBIT RESCUE PROGRAM until the perfect family selects them as new family members! Both are small, need a home to run about & a large pen to have as their "Safe Place". Extremely clean, potty box trained, sweet and used to cats. LOVE cardboard boxes, edible bunny logs, and endless alfalfa!
Spirit
SPIRIT is another Santa Cruz rescue from death row. He came to us on July 17th 2009 at 2 mos old. He is one of the young adventurous neutered boys hoping everyday someone sees his inner beauty. He only wants love, hay, water and some free time to skitter about. Quiet & trainable if adopted at this early age. Spirit is currently in foster care living with a bunny girl so contact Lisa at 883-1734 to find out how to meet this sweet boy
Big Foot
Adopted!
Bear the Bunny recently arrived from the San Jose Shelter on June 23, 2010. His is a large handsome fella and tends to want to be the boss. AFRP couldn't resist his irresistible charm. He is a neutered Agouti French Lop who was a surrender to the shelter by the family he had been with more than a year, so he is full grown. He has a microchip. His pinecone must go with him when he gets adopted!
Jo Jo
Fostered to Adopt!
My name is JO-JO !! I am a gorgeous spayed female, white and brown Shorthaired beauty queen. No one really knows my age but they guess approx 2 years young. I'm not really a high maintenance kinda girl, toss me a leaf of lettuce & a willow ball, maybe a free romp around the house, and I'll be a happy camper! Try me - you'll like me. Actually, you'll LOVE me ! I was brought to the shelter where AFRP RESCUED me August 6th, 2009
Snicky
These babies are truly miracles! They were brought to the San Martin Shelter barely 4 weeks old & w/o their mom. They were then transferred to the wrong rescue, endured a night in foster, spent an entire day in a van traveling but finally made it into our care. They were cold, wet & dirty. We set them up instantly w/heating pads, clean fleece beds & warm kitty milk along w/fresh alfalfa. They devoured it! They have now doubled in size, and are healthy happy spunky babies! They need human handling & pampering. FOSTER HOME NEEDED ASAP!

Allie
Allie traveled all the way down to Monterey from Placer County where she was surrendered to their shelter. She gave birth to 5 incredible litl' lops whom she protected & cared for like a mom should! She is full of curiosity & all recouped now that her babies are on their own. She would love to be a free happy house bunny. She was spayed in July, 2010. She is very people, Cat, and Dog friendly, approx 1-2 years old and full of energy. She is perfectly potty trained and has no issues at all.
Molly
Molly is a precious baby girl who came all the way from Placer County along w/her 4 siblings & mom Allie. She was born Dec.29, 2009. She is a "FLOP" eared bunny, sometimes a lop & sometimes not. Whatever she is, she wants a sweet gentle family to promise her a lifelong home embellished w/willow balls, hay, tunnels & cardboard boxes! She was spayed in JULY 2010.
Marley
Marley is a typical adventurist young boy born Dec 29, 2009 up in Placer County. He's an explorer, charges outta his pen & races 'round the house knowing no boundaries! No fear, used to being chased by kittens & cats & plays back - Would be OK solo as long as he has enough room to roam. he was neutered in May, 2010.
Alfie
As a baby, ALFIE was quite a handful, so tiny he found himself squiggling into tight spots so we called him Trouble. He has since grown to be a "MAMA'S Boy. He now prefers to sit beside his humans. He is perfectly litter trained. His favorite treat is a slice of apple every morning which he devourers. He was neutered on 9-04-09, and has been living with his brother - so he wouldn't mind a bunny friend? He loves to run and dig.
Pancake
I swear I didn't do it !! I am innocent beyond a twitch of my cute litl' nose! I will admit to performing outta control BINKIES but otherwise I am nothin' but a normal sweet average juvenile all gray boy experiencing life to the fullest. I was on death row when the AFRP Rabbit Rescue team found me w/ my siblings. I am grateful for everyday & simply like to express my gratitude. I do cartwheels and Pancakes! My cartwheels are out of control Binkies where I fly so high I flip! I keep doing them till I pancake like a frog on the floor! contact Lisa to find out how to meet him at 883-1734.
Ms Butterworth
This sweet heart bunny came to the AFRP Rabbit rescue by way of a private citizen who was left with a rabbit by her grown kids. Not knowing a thing about rabbits, she found our rescue program & called, slightly panicked. She surrendered her to us on 7/9/10. She was spayed on 7/18/10 (in case of pregnancy) and is recuperating in a comfortable foster home. Mrs. Butterworth is a sweet quiet bunny, careful to explore but then feels right at home. Very mellow, non chewer, extremely relaxed. Would do best in a quieter environment w/o lots of commotion or chaos. She seems to love to be "settled". She is available for bonding appts, adoption, or a nice foster home by calling (831) 883-1734.
Tucker
This is TUCKER & he fell into the hardships of the tough economy. His family did the right thing, they surrendered him back to the AFRP RABBIT RESCUE Program where they adopted him from! Tucker was originally a rescue from the Salinas shelter. We positively love TUCKER, a neutered REX boy approx 3yrs young and would like to find him a new family ASAP. One that will appreciate his velvety soft coat, his perky personality yet his laid back style. He is not too happy being homeless even though we spoil him dearly. He needs his own place to run, binky & plop down for a nice nap! TUCKER is currently at POSH PETS waiting! His fellow bunny friends will be available for instant adoption too!
Sassafras
Adopted!
My name is Sassafras. I am a spayed, very pretty medium sized light brown (or dark tan) French Lop. I have the greatest hung down ears you could every see. They make me look a little crabby in my picture, but I'm really not crabby at all. I was surrendered to the shelter with my guy, and two boys. There really wasn't appropriate housing for all of us, and no place to put my boys away from me, so in we all went to the Shelter. I am a very nice girl. I'm calm, gentle and like to be with people. I'm waiting for that one special person or family to take me on home and be my forever home.
Mojo
My name is MoJo and I am a male, white and brown Shorhaired rabbit, I was neutered 11/17/09. The Salinas shelter staff think I am about 4 mos old.  Don't ask me why I ended up here but I know I am in the best possible Rabbit Rescue Project ever! AFRP spoils me beyond a bunny's dream w/fresh carrot bits, romaine lettuce, & my favorite, willow balls! Only thing missing is my very own family. I'd love to settle down ASAP!Contact Lisa to meet this sweet bunny at 883-1734 lisabunnybuns@aol.com.

Hallie
GRASS VALLEY RESCUE BUNNIES! Abigail (Abby),Skooter Pie & Hallie all came down to us from a rescue in Grass Valley, Calif. The owner left his property & moved out of state. The shelter there was alerted & collected all the rabbits he left behind. They were cared for before & are all child friendly happy small sized rabbits. All 3 are girls and are spayed. 2 are Lionheads (not purebred) but beautiful none the less, and Hallie is a super clean (litter box manners excellent!) precious grey/wht shorthair. They are all used to being around other bunnies/children.Ages are unknown but appear to be under 1 yr old. All 3 are extremely entertaining, playful and holdable!

Maggie
My name is Maggie May and I am one BIG white New Zealand female. I was spayed, 11/15/09. I am about 2 years old. I am lucky to have been saved by the fabulous Rabbit Rescue Volunteers. They found me to be irresistible when they looked into my beautiful ruby eyes and saw my laid back disposition. Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of spunk, but would rather sprawl in the middle of the room and observe all the action going on around me. My favorite pastime is eating. I'll eat anything. I love rice crispy treats. (Shame on my foster mom). I am extremely cat, dog, and kid friendly. My foster mom says I'm a couch potato. I'm clean, I'm nice, and I want my very own home now.

SEE MAGGIE MAY's Video here!!

Millie
This poor SWEET adorable little girl was dumped outside the Harden Valley Ranch Vet Clinic parking lot in Salinas. They caught her with a net and put her in a special room until an AFRP volunteer came to pick her up. So Millie is now in our care as of June 24, 2010. She was examined by the Avian Clinic and appears to be in excellent health. She is a tad confused by her ordeal, but is already wanting attention and mainly proper food! She is holdable, soft, & stunning! We assume she is not spayed so will be arranging her procedure in July. in the mean time, she is available for "Foster to Adopt". Only a loyal family please. We want her to have a safe happily ever after home.
Puddles
Fostered to Adopt!
This rabbit was owned by an elderly woman who could no longer provide the proper care. Luckily an employee of the Avian and Exotic clinic became aware of the situation and convinced her to surrender him to us. The clinic provided a compassionate no charge neuter 5-17-2010.
Princess Leia & Luke
Adopted!
These two are brother and sister rescued from the Sacramento SPCA. They arrived at the AFRP on July 12th when they were 8 weeks old. These two must absolutely stay together! More information to follow.
Magic
This adorable little fella was cruelly dumped in the PetSmart parking lot in Santa Cruz. A good Samaritan witnessed, reported, and saved his life. The AFRP cat division in Santa Cruz took him to to the local vet for treatment and kept him there until the AFRP rabbit folks picked him up. He is now being spoiled in the AFRP's care. He appears to be quite young still. He's small in size but has a huge zest for life. He is scheduled to be neutered on 7/21/2010, but can be adopted. Magic has no idea what a traumatic situation this could have resulted in.
Kiki
Adopted!
KIKI from Sac SPCA, is a Holland/Mini Lop female (not yet spayed)Needs a quiet loving family who has time to hold her, she loves attention and quiet surroundings, not really a great choice for small children. She would probably adore bonding w/a friend bunny since she was recently separated from her brother (Maxwell).

Salinas Animal Shelter - (831) 758-7285

The following Rabbits are under the care of the Salinas Animal Shelter. We are showing these Rabbits on our web site to help them place their animals. Note that shelters do euthanize due to lack of space, so time is of the essence for these animals. Whenever possible, AFRP does pull animals from this shelter, but we have to operate on a space available basis. If you are at all interested in adopting, please do not hesitate to call Rayne at the Salinas Animal Shelter at (831) 758-7285, e-mail Rayne@ci.salinas.ca.us, or visit the shelter at 144 Hitchcock Road in Salinas.

Muggins
Hi! My name is Muggins! They called me Smokey at the shelter, but my foster mom says there is already a Smokey at Friendly Farms, so I will be called Muggins from now on! I came to Friendly Farms with an wound on my back from a fight with my brother. I had surgery and am now all healed and ready to go. For now, I am enjoying my stay at Friendly Farms, but when my foster mom tells me how good life will be at my forever home, I can hardly wait! Will you be the person to share love and good times with me for the rest of my life? Won't you consider adding me to your family?
Carmen
Are you ready for some sizzle in your life? This lovely girl is full of spice! Carmen is a gorgeous English spot mix girl who loves to be in on the action! She has many interests that she enjoys spending time at everyday- running, digging, playing with her toys, and redecorating, to name a few. Her favorite thing of all, however, is staying alert to the goings on of the household to make sure she doesn’t miss out on anything! Carmen would do best with a family who can give her lots of space, and is bunny experienced. We will gladly assist her new parents in discovering entertaining ways to channel her energy into appropriate activities. For more information about Carmen, please contact us at Friendly Farms. Carmen has been spayed.
Daffodil
Daffodil is a stunning chinchilla-gray rabbit found hopping at large in Salinas. She is a spirited and active girl who wants to be in on all of the action! She is litterbox trained and very sweet. She has been spayed, and is ready to be welcomed into a loving home where she will have room to explore, affection, and the boundaries she needs to be safe and secure. For more information about Daffodil, please contact us at Friendly Farms.
Rex
Rex is a beautiful all black mixed breed bunny with wonderful helicopter ears. He was found on a hiking trail, but seems right at home as a house rabbit. He is very gentle and has no problems with being handled. Rex would do very well in a home with loving children who are gentle with him and handle him correctly. He loves running, jumping, and exploring dark places. Rex is a little overweight, so he needs a family who is willing to give him lots of running around time, and who will also help him to eat extra healthy. To meet this sweet bunny boy, contact Brena, or Friendly Farms. Rex has been neutered and is litter box trained. As with all Friendly Farms rabbits, his new family will receive a card for a free vet exam for him at the Avian and Exotic Clinic of the Monterey Peninsula.
Andre
Andre was one of the nine baby bunnies left at Monterey County Animal Services in September of 2007. He had a bad case of vasculitis in his ears when he arrived, and was on medication for several weeks to clear that up (thank you Dr. Davis for saving his life!). He lost the end of his right ear to the disease, but is now a healthy, happy bunny looking forward to a long, active life as part of a loving family. This blue-eyed boy is fully grown now. He is a quiet boy, not demanding of attention. Andre enjoys having lots of play time to scamper around, and then happily settles in for a good ear rub. Andre has been neutered and is in foster care at Friendly Farms. Contact us if you would like to get to know this sweetie!
Annabelle
Annabelle is a stunning New Zealand White girl found in a strawberry field. She enjoys having her ears rubbed and being told how beautiful she is. Annabelle is a good sized rabbit- about 8 lbs. now that she has reached her full adult weight. Big bunnies like her often make the best family pets as children may be less likely to try to pick them up than a small rabbit. Many tragedies occur when bunnies are accidentally dropped or mishandled by children. While parental supervision to ensure that bunny is always treated gently is the best prevention, adopting a larger rabbit can also be a good choice for families with younger children. Annabelle needs a home where she will have lots of bunny-safe room to run and play everyday and a space to call her own when she is unsupervised. She has been spayed and is ready to go home with someone who can see just how special she is. Contact us at Friendly Farms for more information.

Fozzie
Fozzie came to The Haven as part of a rescue of a mom and her litter from a South Bay shelter. He was born in September of 2007. Fozzie says:

Fozzie - What a name for such a bun as I. Is it my hair? They way I act? Guess, if you can. I am a funny bunny and very smart! I know how to use the litter box and I can throw toys really high and far. I can also binky. I think I am a pretty special boy. My brother Gonzo is faster than I am, but I'd still like you to want to adopt me. Come on over and pick me up OK??? Please contact Heather with The Rabbit Haven at (831) 239-7119 or email director@therabbithaven.org

Teddy
Im a lucky little bunny baby! I've completely recovered from being left by myself in a park and eating all the wrong food at the shelter. Can you imagine me all alone trying to survive? I now LOVE attention so I'll want to be the center of all household activity. Ill nibble you or give you kisses if you don't pet me. My favorite place to sit is on my foster family's feet or cuddling in their arms. I love being picked up. I also love running around at super speed in my cardboard tunnel and then sitting quietly on the tippy-top of my neat-cube condo. Thank goodness I'm eating the correct food for my age and breed--15/30 and alfalfa hay. I'm neutered now too! I'd love a gentle bunny friend someday. Please contact Heather with The Rabbit Haven at (831) 239-7119 or email director@therabbithaven.org
Roxy & Calvin
Calvin and Roxy are a sweet, loving pair with plenty of charm to amaze you! Spayed/Neutered, this adult pair is stable, lots of fun and very happy. They are seeking a special home to play and be in comfort with their family. They do have each other so you don't need to worry if you have to be gone during the day. They are accustomed to free roaming indoor life. They love hays and greens plus fresh water in a nice crockery bowl. Yes they are litter box trained. They use a large size litter box and a paper based litter. Calvin is brown with a smooth, even disposition. He loves nose rubs and plenty of affection. Roxy is the adventurous one/the explorer. Calvin dislikes hardwood floors so if you have those he'd need a carpet runner to be able to use the space. Roxy can walk on any floor surface. They are 100% bonded to each other and snuggle and kiss with abandon. They are well known for their jumps for joy (binkies)! They also appreciate their family. If you love them, they will love you right back! Hazelnut. Please contact Heather with The Rabbit Haven at (831) 239-7119 or email director@therabbithaven.org
Klondike
Klondike is 1 year old spayed bunny girl who once had 6 sisters and a mom. We were rescued from a shelter-just in time. Then, after a short time, all of my family was adopted, one by one, off they went. Now I am wondering, "hey, what about me" - Here I am, all alone in my x pen, no bunnies but me. I am lonely! I will appreciate a loving home where I can be my wonderful self and be happy again. Perhaps I can even find a companion? I am a joyful bunny who loves to play and munch on hays. I'll watch a video with you on occasion on the couch. I like to jump up on the couch here. I love my spring mix, cilantro, and celery. I am easy going and very mello. I even get along fabulously with cats. I run loose in the house so she can stretch my legs too. Oh, I am perfect with the litter box. All around I guess I am an exceptional bunny girl. You can't get enough of me! Please contact Heather with The Rabbit Haven at (831) 239-7119 or email director@therabbithaven.org
Oscar

He is full of energy and barely slows down to be petted. He is a tiny velvety soft little guy and is very easy to handle. He is doing well with is litter box and will be an expert soon. He enjoys tunnels, cardboard boxes, and checking out all of the cat toys at the shelter. He is very social and wants to visit with other shelter rabbits and should be easy to bond with a spayed female bunny. Golda Mydear
Golda Mydear is a lovely golden girl with a sunny disposition. She uses her litter box and loves greens and loads of attention. Golda seems OK with cats and adults. She might be good for a male rabbit looking for a friend. She is spayed and about one year old. She is so healthy she glows! Golda enjoys playtime and petting and snuggle time too. She'd make a great TV companion. She lives in a precision pen with sheets for a floor. Her habitat includes crocks for food and water and a large hay basket. She'd love a home with gentle people and plenty of toys. Please contact Heather with The Rabbit Haven at (831) 239-7119 or email director@therabbithaven.org
Cassiopea
This Beautiful, loving rabbit is a young girl who has been health checked and is spayed. Sadly she was turned in as her humans could not provide the care she needed. She came in badly matted and she is so young. It was as if she had never been brushed. Casie is amazing and gentle in every way. Loves to be held and kissed. Enjoys romping and playtime, lots of toys and good hay and greens. She seems hungry often so she may get to be a big girl. She will be in the care of Kyomi while her fur is growing back. If you wish to know more about how to groom her please ask us. She is loving and affectionate. What a precious bunny. She will follow you everywhere and loves to be with her humans. She has not seen a toy she does not like and she appreciates a nice no waste hay rack and clean fresh sheets as her flooring. Naturally she will want to live with her family and maybe later on would enjoy the companionship of another rabbits as well. Come to meet amazing Cassiopeia.
