Here are some of the rabbits available for adoption

The following rabbits are under the care of Kelly Lehrian, AFRP board member and owner of Posh Pets, and AFRP Rabbit Program Volunteer, Lisa Redmond. All the rabbits are located at Posh Pets, 160 Fountain Ave., in Pacific Grove or are in foster care. Please stop into Posh Pets to meet the adoptable rabbits or call Posh Pets at (831) 375-7387 or Lisa at (831) 883-1734 or email kelly@lehrian.com. or lisabunnybuns@aol.com

These rabbits were rescued from animal shelters because they were at risk of being euthanized due to space and time constraints at the shelters. We do not accept rabbits from the public.

In order to ensure that a rabbit is the right match for your family, potential adopters are required to go through an interview process and fill out an application. All rabbits are adopted out as house rabbits only. For more information about owning a house rabbit go to The House Rabbit Society.

All rabbits have been spayed/neutered and come with a free exam from the Avian and Exotic Clinic in Monterey. The adoption fee is $50-$65. The adoption fee helps to cover the cost of the care the animal has received.

Mojo
My name is MoJo and I am a male, white and brown Shorhaired rabbit, I was neutered 11/17/09. The Salinas shelter staff think I am about 4 mos old.  Don't ask me why I ended up here but I know I am in the best possible Rabbit Rescue Project ever! AFRP spoils me beyond a bunny's dream w/fresh carrot bits, romaine lettuce, & my favorite, willow balls! Only thing missing is my very own family. I'd love to settle down ASAP!Contact Lisa to meet this sweet bunny at 883-1734 lisabunnybuns@aol.com.
Wiley Boy
I am the last of the New Mexico rescue of 334 bunnies! I was neutered 10/7/09 I can't decide if I am a Lop or not, so I keep my right ear up & my left ear down. I became an AFRP Rescue bunny on 10/9/09. I endured a very long car ride all the way from New Mexico & am happy to be here where the people treat me like a king!  I am well trained but have one demand, that is I LOVE to dig! I am otherwise an extremely well behaved, clean, potty trained, and hungry for treats. I prefer to have a space to hang out in all my own, a pen or proper sized cage. I don't love being held but like to be around wherever the action is. I'm still young enough to train......I am lonely! Available for fostering or adoption today!Contact Lisa at 883-1734 lisabunnybuns@aol.com.
Frisbee
I am Frisbee and I must say I am spectacular!! My owner felt it was unfair that he couldn't give me any attention and surrendered me to the Santa Cruz shelter on 8/13/09. I came in with my sister Kelly and my dad. I am a sweet girl, I love attention and I'm very playful. I'm just a medium size bunny but I have a big personality and lots of love to give whoever takes me home. I'm very curious too and am always poking my head into one place after another to see what is there. On 12-17-09 this got me in trouble with another bunny and my lip got bit! The folks at AFRP rushed me to the Avian Exotic clinic where I received a "Lip Job" I now have luscious new lips!Luckily no major damage was done and I learned my lesson.I'm real neat and clean and love using my litter box. It keeps my house so much neater and cleaner to be careful like that. Kinda wanna find that special family the AFRP Bunny people keep telling me about. They say my future looks bright......I'll wait until that spark twinkles & know my dream will at last come true. Is it you I have been waiting for?
Good Boy and Momma
Good Boy is a fiercely loyal, gorgeous, loving Lionhead that is looking for his forever home. He has beautiful caramel coloring and will need daily grooming to keep his fur whispy. He has become protective of our beautiful Momma bunny who has been with us the longest. Momma is a sweet bunny came from an LA shelter. In an ideal world, we would love for them to be adopted together. They are also available for foster. They are currently shacking up at Posh pets in P.G.
Gracie (Dapple)
Gracie is a stunning Chinchilla gray rabbit found hopping at large in Salinas. She is slightly confused, she wants to be a Lop but one ear keeps popping back up. When she is happy and calm both ears stay down.  She is an independent bunny who prefers not to be held, but likes to hang out where the people are on her own terms. If you understand bunnies this is not unusual. Gracie is quite independent and in our opinion not  a great choice for a family with small children, She would live happily with cats or a well behaved dog. She may do well with a bunny friend if you have a lonely bunny. As of 1 Jan, 2010 she is approx 1 1/2 to 2 years old.
Maggie May
My name is Maggie May and I am one BIG white New Zealand female who was spayed 11/15/09. The shelter staff think I am about 1yr & 7 mos old. I am lucky to have been saved by the fabulous Rabbit Rescue Volunteers. They found me to be irresistible when they looked into my beautiful ruby eyes and saw my laid back disposition. Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of spunk, but would rather sprawl in the middle of the room and observe all the action going on around me. My favorite pastime is eating. I'll eat anything. I love rice crispy treats (Shame on my foster mom!). I am extremely cat, dog, and kid friendly. My foster mom says I'm a couch potato. I'm clean, I'm nice, and I want my very own home ASAP.

Spirit
SPIRIT is another Santa Cruz rescue from death row. He came to us on July 17th 2009 at 2 mos old. He is one of the young adventurous neutered boys hoping everyday someone sees his inner beauty. He only wants love, hay, water and some free time to skitter about. Quiet & trainable if adopted at this early age. Spirit is currently in foster care living with a bunny girl so contact Lisa at 883-1734 to find out how to meet this sweet boy.
Sabrina and Twix
Sabrina is the large white/Ruby eyed, gray eared marshmallow who came from the Salinas shelter, while Twix is a Gray boy who came from the Santa Cruz shelter. Both were looking so lonely. One night Twix leaped out of his pen into Sabrina's and when we found them the next morning snuggling and we did not have the heart to separate them. Sabrina is approx 3 years young w/gray ears & nose & Spayed. Twix on the other hand is , is barely a teenager, about 7 months old and neutered. Twix is super friendly and spunky while Sabrina loves to be held and is a marshmallow. They have each other. Now all they need is you.
Mittens
Mittens is a sweet bunny girl who was returned to us due to her owners financial hardship. She is the sister to June, Claire, Simon and Sneakers(adopted). She was born in our care a day after her mom was rescued from the Salinas Shelter. She is a little over a year old spayed and litterbox trained. This wonderful girl is looking for a family to give her a happy and fun home to run around in. She is currently in foster care. Call Lisa to meet her 883-1734 lisabunnybuns@aol.com
Bo Jangles
Adopted!
I am a neutered male, white & gray Shorthair. My age is ??? I have been at the Salinas shelter since Aug 26, 2009. I am a super easy, clean, potty box trained boy looking for a special family who can see my inner beauty. My needs / care are minimal and I long to be loved. Thanks to the AFRP Rabbit Rescue Project, I am now hoping to find a new forever home to hang out at or at least a foster home PLEASE ???
Dash
My name is Dash and I am a neutered handsome boy. I was neutered on 11/6/09. I arrived at the Salinas Shelter & waited for my family to claim me, but they never showed. The AFRP came out, scooped me up, promised me a loving SAFE home, it made me so happy, I did a BINKY! I am a sweet, quiet, mellow, gentle, beautiful boy who is perfectly potty-trained. I would love a clean quiet home because loud noises make me uncomfortable. My foster mom spoils me and smothers me with love. She supplies me with awesome green produce and treats such as strawberries, apples, and bananas. I'll even eat my brussel sprouts.  I am quite the spoiled bunny. I am approx 1 year old.
Pancake
I swear I didn't do it !! I am innocent beyond a twitch of my cute litl' nose! I will admit to performing outta control BINKIES but otherwise I am nothin' but a normal sweet average juvenile all gray boy experiencing life to the fullest. I was on death row when the AFRP Rabbit Rescue team found me w/ my siblings. I am grateful for everyday & simply like to express my gratitude. I do cartwheels and Pancakes! My cartwheels are out of control Binkies where I fly so high I flip! I keep doing them till I pancake like a frog on the floor! contact Lisa to find out how to meet him at 883-1734.
June Bug
June bug AKA "The Binkie Bunny" is a blk/gray/wht ticked shorthaired girl who is spayed and ready to kick her feet up somewhere permanently. She was from a litter of 7 rescued from the Salinas shelter and is hoping we can find her a super fun family to bond with. She was turned 1 years old on May 25, 2009 and is full of energy. SUPER neat and tidy and comes with plenty of attitude! Her attitude got her in trouble with another bunny and her nose got bit and torn. She had to be rushed to the vet where she was given cosmetic surgery. Luckily no major damage, just some cosmetic repair and is 100% recuperated.
Ping and Taffy
Ping is the largest and dumbest of all the New Mexico group. (almost double the size).  She has a large head and a small butt - You gotta love her! Ping is a very quite shy girl at first because of the traumatic situation she was rescued from. Once she is comfortable she becomes a whole new bunny! She is about 8 months old and was spayed on 9-29-09. These two girls would prefer to go as a pair. Ping would not be a great solo bunny as she needs another bunny to show her how to be a bunny.
Taffy is very special to us. She had a allergic reaction during her spay and had extensive after care so we spent a lot of time with her. She is 100% recuperated, 100% teenage girl bunny and ready to play! She tries to teach Ping how to be a bunny, but does ditch her once in a while. To simply say, she is one very special girl and was rescued from the Santa Cruz Shelter with her siblings 12 hrs before time was up, so here she is with a second chance to live a long life. She comes with a smile and love in her heart. She was spayed on Sept 29, 2009. Contact Lisa at lisabunnybuns@aol.com.
Butterscotch
I am a delightful adorable "Sugerpie in the Sky" Sweetie who escaped certain death at the Santa Cruz shelter thanks to the awesome AFRP Rabbit Rescue volunteers! I was instantly adopted at PetSmart when I was quite young where they bonded me with a pretty little girlfriend. After I was spayed my instincts changed my bonded relationship my owners felt it best they exchange me. So here I am hoping to find a new home and a neutered boyfriend if possible. I am very gentle and great with kids (my old owner had 4 kids) I don't mind cats or a well behaved dog. I was spayed on Sept 29, 2009 when I was 7 months old.
Alfie
As a baby, ALFIE was quite a handful, so tiny he found himself squiggling into tight spots so we called him Trouble. He has since grown to be a "MAMA'S Boy. He now prefers to sit beside his humans. He is perfectly litter trained. His favorite treat is a slice of apple every morning which he devourers. He was neutered on 9-04-09, and has been living with his brother - so he wouldn't mind a bunny friend? He loves to run and dig.
Venus, Pluto, Neptune
AFRP Rabbit Rescue welcomes these Netherland Dwarf Babies with open hearts and waiting arms! On 1-29-2010 they turned 9-weeks old and are now legally ready for adoption. Venus is an un-spayed all black female and weighs barely 2 lbs. Pluto is the runt of the litter and is still too young to sex. Pluto is black with gold trim.Pluto weighs 1.5 lbs, but is rapidly growing to catch up with his brothers and sisters. Neptune is a healthy liitle un-nuetered all black boy. All three have been hand raised with children and cats. These babies must be adopted to indoor homes only. Call lisa at (831) 883-1734 or email lisabunnybuns@aol.com. me, love me & protect me. Salinas Animal Shelter - (831) 758-7285

The following Rabbits are under the care of the Salinas Animal Shelter. We are showing these Rabbits on our web site to help them place their animals. Note that shelters do euthanize due to lack of space, so time is of the essence for these animals. Whenever possible, AFRP does pull animals from this shelter, but we have to operate on a space available basis. If you are at all interested in adopting, please do not hesitate to call Rayne at the Salinas Animal Shelter at (831) 758-7285, e-mail Rayne@ci.salinas.ca.us, or visit the shelter at 144 Hitchcock Road in Salinas.
Cadbury
My name is Cadbury and I'm a neutered, white Shorthaired male. I was surrendered by my owner who wanted a better life for me since I was no longerinteresting to the kids. I am used to dogs, cats & kids so children can pick me up & I won't mind too much. I just need a new family to care for me, love me & protect me. The shelter staff think I am about 3 years old.. I am at the Salinas shelter  waiting patiently. I am available for foster or adoption.

Friendly Farms - Please contact the info with the listing

The following Rabbits are not under the direct care of Animal Friends Rescue Project. We've listed them here to help Friendly Farms place their animals. Please contact Lori with Friendly Farms at 831-663-1413 or email getinfo@friendlyfarms.org

Muggins
Hi! My name is Muggins! They called me Smokey at the shelter, but my foster mom says there is already a Smokey at Friendly Farms, so I will be called Muggins from now on! I came to Friendly Farms with an wound on my back from a fight with my brother. I had surgery and am now all healed and ready to go. For now, I am enjoying my stay at Friendly Farms, but when my foster mom tells me how good life will be at my forever home, I can hardly wait! Will you be the person to share love and good times with me for the rest of my life? Won't you consider adding me to your family?
Carmen
Are you ready for some sizzle in your life? This lovely girl is full of spice! Carmen is a gorgeous English spot mix girl who loves to be in on the action! She has many interests that she enjoys spending time at everyday- running, digging, playing with her toys, and redecorating, to name a few. Her favorite thing of all, however, is staying alert to the goings on of the household to make sure she doesn’t miss out on anything! Carmen would do best with a family who can give her lots of space, and is bunny experienced. We will gladly assist her new parents in discovering entertaining ways to channel her energy into appropriate activities. For more information about Carmen, please contact us at Friendly Farms. Carmen has been spayed.
Daffodil
Daffodil is a stunning chinchilla-gray rabbit found hopping at large in Salinas. She is a spirited and active girl who wants to be in on all of the action! She is litterbox trained and very sweet. She has been spayed, and is ready to be welcomed into a loving home where she will have room to explore, affection, and the boundaries she needs to be safe and secure. For more information about Daffodil, please contact us at Friendly Farms.
Rex
Rex is a beautiful all black mixed breed bunny with wonderful helicopter ears. He was found on a hiking trail, but seems right at home as a house rabbit. He is very gentle and has no problems with being handled. Rex would do very well in a home with loving children who are gentle with him and handle him correctly. He loves running, jumping, and exploring dark places. Rex is a little overweight, so he needs a family who is willing to give him lots of running around time, and who will also help him to eat extra healthy. To meet this sweet bunny boy, contact Brena, or Friendly Farms. Rex has been neutered and is litter box trained. As with all Friendly Farms rabbits, his new family will receive a card for a free vet exam for him at the Avian and Exotic Clinic of the Monterey Peninsula.
Andre
Andre was one of the nine baby bunnies left at Monterey County Animal Services in September of 2007. He had a bad case of vasculitis in his ears when he arrived, and was on medication for several weeks to clear that up (thank you Dr. Davis for saving his life!). He lost the end of his right ear to the disease, but is now a healthy, happy bunny looking forward to a long, active life as part of a loving family. This blue-eyed boy is fully grown now. He is a quiet boy, not demanding of attention. Andre enjoys having lots of play time to scamper around, and then happily settles in for a good ear rub. Andre has been neutered and is in foster care at Friendly Farms. Contact us if you would like to get to know this sweetie!
Annabelle
Annabelle is a stunning New Zealand White girl found in a strawberry field. She enjoys having her ears rubbed and being told how beautiful she is. Annabelle is a good sized rabbit- about 8 lbs. now that she has reached her full adult weight. Big bunnies like her often make the best family pets as children may be less likely to try to pick them up than a small rabbit. Many tragedies occur when bunnies are accidentally dropped or mishandled by children. While parental supervision to ensure that bunny is always treated gently is the best prevention, adopting a larger rabbit can also be a good choice for families with younger children. Annabelle needs a home where she will have lots of bunny-safe room to run and play everyday and a space to call her own when she is unsupervised. She has been spayed and is ready to go home with someone who can see just how special she is. Contact us at Friendly Farms for more information.

Fozzie - What a name for such a bun as I. Is it my hair? They way I act? Guess, if you can. I am a funny bunny and very smart! Cranberry & Hazelnut
We are a most unusual pair. I am a small tall, brown Holland lop and Cranberry is a mixture of all things beautiful - he is orange and white. His ears stick up sort of. We love each other very much. We have learned to count on each other especially recently. Our family had hard times and had to give us up. Then a very wonderful lady adopted us then she got really sick, so much so that she could not keep us either. So she called The Rabbit Haven. Now, here we are in the best rabbit place around - the Rabbit Haven. We have a super foster mom who sings to us. Even though she is sweet and very calm, Cranberry insists on digging. Silly boy! He needs a digging box and even more room to run, jump and play. I am Hazelnut. I am the quiet one. I am a pretty, brown petite lop. Cranberry is also very good looking, he's white with splashes of gold over his pure clean white fur. So handsome! He's my partner. We'd like to find a home that appreciates bunnies, and where we can have a permanent place of our very own the rest of our lives. No more moving around ok? Oh, we like the cotton tail cottage, vacation villa, use a litter box and we will appreciate a hay manger and our very own home, forever this time. We will be loving family members for the right peaceful joyful family. We love hays and greens. We love to have attention and to listen to music. We live with a cat, which is fine. You may call auntie to find out more about us and to make a special adoption appointment to visit with us. Maybe we are your bunny children. We truly would love to meet you. Kisses to you... Hazelnut. Please contact Heather with The Rabbit Haven at (831) 239-7119 or email director@therabbithaven.org

Oscar is a neutered male Mini-Rex who loves to visit with the shelter cats. He even lets them drink out of his water bowl and hang out in his cage. He is full of energy and barely slows down to be petted. He is a tiny velvety soft little guy and is very easy to handle. He is doing well with is litter box and will be an expert soon. He enjoys tunnels, cardboard boxes, and checking out all of the cat toys at the shelter. He is very social and wants to visit with other shelter rabbits and should be easy to bond with a spayed female bunny. Golda Mydear
Golda Mydear is a lovely golden girl with a sunny disposition. She uses her litter box and loves greens and loads of attention. Golda seems OK with cats and adults. She might be good for a male rabbit looking for a friend. She is spayed and about one year old. She is so healthy she glows! Golda enjoys playtime and petting and snuggle time too. She'd make a great TV companion. She lives in a precision pen with sheets for a floor. Her habitat includes crocks for food and water and a large hay basket. She'd love a home with gentle people and plenty of toys. Please contact Heather with The Rabbit Haven at (831) 239-7119 or email director@therabbithaven.org
