AFRP Dogs Looking for Homes - Call (831) 333-0722 if you are interested

AFRP's dogs are cared for in foster homes. If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please call or email first before coming down to the adoption center. On any given day we have 5 to 10 dogs at the center, not ALL of our dogs are on site.

In order to ensure that we make the best match for a dog with a new family, potential adopters are required to go through an interview process, fill out an application, and have a home check done by one of our volunteers. We do not do same day adoptions. After meeting one of our dogs, it might take up to a week before the adoption process is complete and the dog goes home with you.

Please call (831) 333-0722 or email info@animalfriendsrescue.org if you are interested in adopting an AFRP dog and we will have the foster volunteer contact you directly.

AFRP only adopts out dogs that have been spayed/neutered. The adoption fee is $200-$300. The adoption fee helps to cover the cost of the care the animal has received, including spay/neuter, vaccines, microchipping, deworming, and flea treatment. Adopters are encouraged to take their new AFRP dog to one of our participating vets for a free wellness check (see list of participating vets).

True
Posted 8-3-15. True is a beautiful 2 yr old, 60 lb. neutered husky border collie mix. Unfortunately, some of our family members are experiencing severe allergies to his fur, so although we are very fond of him he needs a new home as soon as possible. He is house broken and loves to just hang out with his people and other pets that might be in the household. This mellow guy will be happy to follow you around while you do chores or sit at your feet while you watch TV. He does need training in how to walk on a leash around other dogs, but he loves to run and play with other dogs in a secure area off leash. He is playful and non aggressive around cats and small dogs, but he still needs work on his manners when meeting new people. True is a wonderful character that needs a firm hand while he is on a leash, and will thrive in a house with a fenced yard and other dogs to play with. True is not an AFRP dog and currently lives in Pacific Grove. For more information please call or text Nicole at 831-915-3758 or email nicolebloom7@aol.com

Amelia
"I'm Amelia, a 2-year-old, 50-pound spayed female Border Collie mix from San Jose, CA. I'm your best friend indoors and have enough energy and love to go around. I love to cuddle up! I love to play ball, although my favorite part of that game is 'keep-away!' I am micro-chipped and up-to-date on all my shots. I am very obedient and housebroken, though when I get too excited or anxious I may lose focus, have an accident, or look for something to chew. I must admit, however, that I do have anxiety and fear issues that cause me a lot of trouble on walks, or when meeting new people. I really need a home with no dogs and no children, and hey, a big fenced backyard certainly doesn't hurt! With the right attention, consistent structure, and regular exercise I will be your best friend and perfect companion." Amelia is not an AFRP dog. For more info please email Andy at andy.dill@gmail.com

Baby is up to date on her vaccinations and had a full dental cleaning in November. She was taken to a vet clinic to be euthanized for unspecified aggression issues, but the person who brought her in couldn't give any examples of aggressive behavior. The owner finally agreed to relinquish Baby to the clinic under the love and care of the staff. Since then, Baby has shown no aggression toward people. She hasn't been tested around other dogs, and she'd probably do best in a home where she's the sole pet. Baby is enjoying her second chance at life and is ready for her forever home. Princess
Hello my name is Princess and I'm a positively sweet and affectionate Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix that would love to go home with you! Unofficially I am 9 1/2 years old, 43 lbs, current on my vaccinations, flea prevention, and spayed. Don't let my age fool you. I'm very energetic and would make an ideal hiking or walking buddy. Not only do I enjoy a bit of exercise, but I love car rides too. I'm great with kids and used to live with children that were 15 mo and 11yrs old. Although I've lived with other pets and currently live with two cats, I'd like to try being an only dog. I listen well and know my basic commands, but sometimes I can forget when I get very excited. I'm housebroken and usually stay inside. I don't really like crates, but I love a comfy couch. I'd settle for a warm blanket too. My previous owners moved to where they could not take me, but I'm very friendly towards people and I guarantee my favorite place will be sitting right next to you showering you with kisses. Princess is not an AFRP dog and is located in Fremont, CA. Please contact Genelle at 719-310-9304 or genelle_chapman_98@yahoo.com
