AFRP Dogs Looking for Homes - Call (831) 333-0722 if you are interested

AFRP's dogs are cared for in foster homes. If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please call or email first before coming down to the adoption center. On any given day we have 5 to 10 dogs at the center, not ALL of our dogs are on site.

In order to ensure that we make the best match for a dog with a new family, potential adopters are required to go through an interview process, fill out an application, and have a home check done by one of our volunteers. We do not do same day adoptions. After meeting one of our dogs, it might take up to a week before the adoption process is complete and the dog goes home with you.

Please call (831) 333-0722 or email info@animalfriendsrescue.org if you are interested in adopting an AFRP dog and we will have the foster volunteer contact you directly.

AFRP only adopts out dogs that have been spayed/neutered. The adoption fee is $200-$300. The adoption fee helps to cover the cost of the care the animal has received, including spay/neuter, vaccines, microchipping, deworming, and flea treatment. Adopters are encouraged to take their new AFRP dog to one of our participating vets for a free wellness check (see list of participating vets).

Meet Chuckie, an elegant 2-year-old, 16-pound Miniature Pinscher who came to us from the Monterey County Shelter after being found wandering as a stray. When we noticed that Chuckie favored his right hind leg, we had it x-rayed. Turns out that at some point in his life, Chuckie had a broken leg that was never treated and had to heal on it's own. Because of the old trauma, he sometimes prefers to walk on three legs, and sometimes on all four legs. Chuckie is a friendly, wiggly and affectionate dog who deserves to experience some love and happiness. This smart boy learns quickly and is eager to please. He is estimated to be two years old, a Pit Bull/Boxer mix. He has gained weight, and the body sores from years of bugs and bites outdoors are healing. He has a passion for chasing/chewing tennis balls. But most importantly, he is a love bug of a dog, full of excitement about his new life and all of the people he meets with whom he can finally interact! Lester is not an AFRP dog. Crash
Posted 12-28-15. Crash is a seven-year-old border collie mix (maybe with Labrador?) who is a best bud and longtime adventure companion. He is a very fun, active and loyal dog who knows just about every obedience command and trick in the book, but he has territorial issues that are a daily challenge. He has worked extensively with dog trainers and vets and he is currently taking Prozac to even out his moods. He would do fine in a home with most other pets, but not with kids, and most importantly he should be with someone who can offer him structure and exercise and have patience for his rough edges. In return, he will be up for anything and everything you want to do outdoors (swimming, hiking, mountain biking, agility, fetching balls and enormous sticks) and he will give you endless cuddles and kisses. Crash is neutered and up to date on vaccines. He is not an AFRP dog. For more information email Liz at lizandcrash@gmail.com or (650) 387-9882.
