AFRP Dogs Looking for Homes - Call (831) 333-0722 if you are interested

AFRP's dogs are cared for in foster homes. If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please call or email first before coming down to the adoption center. On any given day we have 5 to 10 dogs at the center, not ALL of our dogs are on site.

In order to ensure that we make the best match for a dog with a new family, potential adopters are required to go through an interview process, fill out an application, and have a home check done by one of our volunteers. We do not do same day adoptions. After meeting one of our dogs, it might take up to a week before the adoption process is complete and the dog goes home with you.

Please call (831) 333-0722 or email info@animalfriendsrescue.org if you are interested in adopting an AFRP dog and we will have the foster volunteer contact you directly.

AFRP only adopts out dogs that have been spayed/neutered. The adoption fee is $200-$300. The adoption fee helps to cover the cost of the care the animal has received, including spay/neuter, vaccines, microchipping, deworming, and flea treatment. Adopters are encouraged to take their new AFRP dog to one of our participating vets for a free wellness check (see list of participating vets).

Tickles
Posted 8-3-17. Tickles is a lovely 5-month-old German Shepherd Mix pup. She was found tied to a tree on Hwy 156 in Hollister, in 100 degree weather. A kind person saw her and called the right person to go and rescue her. Tickles is very friendly, super sweet and loving, gets along with other dogs of her size. She currently weighs 27lbs, so we think she will be a medium sized dog when fully grown. She is a large puppy with very high energy levels, will need lots of walks, a family that is very active would be best suited for Tickles. Due to her high energy she will be best suited to a family with no small toddlers or children. She is doing great with her crate training and house training. Puppy obedience classes required for adoption. Tickles is not an AFRP dog and is in the care of All Creatures Great and Small of Hollister. For more information call 831-917-5570 or email viv@acgsinc@aol.com

Larry
Posted 3-2-17. Hello! My name is Larry and I am a 5 pound chihuahua/dachshund mix. I am 5 years old, neutered, and in good health. My current family adopted me and soon realized I would be best fit with someone who is home more often during the day, or has a more flexible schedule. I love walks and laps! I am a little shy at first, and I need you to go slow with me. But once I warm up to you I am dedicated and loyal. I get along amazingly with other dogs. My current roommate is also a 5 pound 5 year old chihuahua. My family is working on my crate training and I am learning well. Oh, and don't worry, I am house broken! My family thinks I would do best with a couple who has no kids and flexible schedules. Also, another smaller dog companion would be great for me! I will come to you with lots of love as well as my crate, bed, bowls, leash and collar. I do have a microchip and all of my vaccines are current! Larry is not an AFRP dog and currently lives in San Jose. For more info contact Stephanie at 619-865-4374 or email stephaniejskye@gmail.com

Achilles
Post renewed 2-10-17. Achilles is an 9 year old, 70lb cattle dog mix. He has a gentle, kind, shy soul but has unfortunately been through many homes recently through no fault of his own. Because of this and his breed mix, Achilles will always be slow to warm up to new people but is interested and does bond with you after just a few days. He will reward you with a little happy dance and some "stump-waggin'" whenever he sees you! All this guy really needs is a comfy corner spot in a stable quiet home environment again! Achilles is fully housebroken, crate-trained, treat motivated, good on leash, tolerant of other dogs, and a quiet companion. He just wants to be near his people again so would be happiest in a home with a full-time adult caretaker. As a shy dog, Achilles is not suitable for a noisy, busy environment and is afraid of most children. He's looking for a retired couple to follow around again for exercise and some comfy dog beds for rest. Achilles is not an AFRP dog. Please contact Diana at (510) 333-4420 or theperfectdogrescue@gmail.com

He is SUPER friendly and gets along great with everyone at the vet clinic. Kuchka is a 5-year-old, 13-pound spayed, black Chihuahua mix. Of the two dogs she is much more shy and can be fearful in new situations. Once she gets to know people she can be sweet - the staff at the vet clinic have befriended her and can handle her.
