Choji
sponsor me

Instead of calling seven-year-old Choji a "special needs" cat, we'd prefer to call him "just plain special!" Choji has Cerebellar Hypoplasia (C.H.) which is a neurological condition he was born with. This causes him to wobble when he walks, making him less graceful than a normal cat; and unable to climb or jump very easily. But all that just makes it easier for Choji to do what he likes best: napping, dozing on your lap, or laying in your arms. This sweet boy is the ultimate lap cat and has lots of love to share. He's looking for a safe, indoor-only home. Meet Choji at the AFRP Adoption Center in Pacific Grove. Read more about Choji . . .

Cyrano
sponsor me

While one famous Cyrano was known for his very large nose, our Cyrano is known for just the opposite. This friendly 8-year-old orange tabby was picked up as a stray and taken to the Salinas Shelter. Sadly, the time he spent outdoors in the sunshine took a toll on his pink nose, and he was diagnosed with a squamous cell carcinoma. To save Cyrano's life, the tip of his nose and surrounding tissue was removed surgically by laser to keep the cancer from spreading. While some folks are taken aback by his appearance, Cyrano does not care one bit, and loves cheek-scratches, kitty treats and warm laps for napping. Cyrano is an FIV+ kitty and needs a strictly indoor-only home. Read more about FIV. Meet this very special cat at the AFRP Adoption Center in Pacific Grove.

Sarah
sponsor me

Sarah is a lovely 10-year-old Abyssinian mix who is looking for a home with her brother Simon, also on web. Sarah and Simon lost their home when their elderly guardian passed away. They have always been pampered companions and had the best of care. Their mother was a purebred Abyssinnian, and their father was a domestic shorthair. Sarah has big green eyes and a beautiful ticked coat. She purrs the moment you start to pet her, and has a very friendly, confident and easygoing personality. Sarah enjoys watching birds and squirrels from her window, and takes impeccable care of her coat. She is a bit more independent than Simon and entertains herself easily. For more information about adopting this pair, please fill out an online adoption application.

Simon
sponsor me

Simon is a stunning 10-year-old Abyssinian mix who is looking for a home with his sister Sarah, also on web. Simon and Sarah lost their home when their elderly guardian passed away. They have always been pampered companions and had the best of care. Their mother was a purebred Abyssinnian, and their father was a domestic shorthair. Simon has a sleek and shiny ticked coat and a friendly and affectionate personality. He is active, curious, smart and athletic. He enjoys curling on your lap and "making muffins" with his paws. He is very social and likes being where you are, whether watching TV or working on the computer. For more information about adopting this pair, please fill out an online adoption application.

Roi
sponsor me

With a name that means "king" in French, Roi is a handsome 7-year-old purebred Egyptian Mau who came to AFRP after being surrendered by his family to a local vet clinic. Seems Roi is a bit persnickety about his potty habits, and will need an adopter that can provide several high-sided litter boxes for him, and can keep them nice and clean - thrones "fit for a king," so to speak. When you meet Roi you'll fall in love with his green eyes and stunning silver tabby coat. With a fun and friendly personality, Roi will be a great match for a calm household and a cat-savvy adopter that can keep him happy and healthy. This is a rare opportunity to invite a very special cat into your home. Meet Roi at the AFRP Adoption Center in Pacific Grove.

Kahlua
sponsor me

Kahlua is a lovely 7-year-old tortie-point Siamese mix who was adopted from AFRP as a kitten, and recently returned to us when her owner moved and could not take her along. Just like many humans, Kahlua needs a daily dose of Plavix to prevent blood clots. She will need to take this medication for the rest of her life, costing about $30 per month - a bargain considering the priceless unconditional love you will receive from this grateful kitty. Meet Kahlua at the AFRP Adoption Center in Pacific Grove. Read more about Kahlua . . .

Aloicious
sponsor me

Aloicious is a 5-year-old gray and white cat with a friendly, affectionate personality. He loves people and is happiest on a lap or snuggled in bed with you at night. Aloicious was injured as a youngster and though his broken pelvis has mended, he will always need to be on a special diet to keep food moving through his intestinal tract. He needs to always have lots of fresh water available and eat a wet food diet. He does well on Eukanuba or Royal Canin low residue food. Aloicious is worth every bit of extra effort on your part to keep him healthy. He's a big love and has lived with older kids. Ali is currently in foster care, please let us know if you'd like to meet him. He is a Compassionate Choice Cat, adoption fee waived, please read more.

Gato
sponsor me

Gato is a supremely handsome 4-year-old Bengal mix with a silver tabby coat and green eyes. He came to AFRP via the San Jose Shelter. He was suffering from hair loss, possibly from a flea allergy, food allergy or stress. Of course, losing your home is stressful for a cat, so we're hoping to get this big sweet guy into his forever home quickly. He would do best as a single cat in the home, but would possibly be compatible with a gentle dog. He will need an adopter who will be diligent about applying monthly doses of Advantage for fleas, and can provide him with a hypoallergenic diet. Meet Gato at the AFRP Adoption Center in Pacific Grove.

Fishsticks
sponsor me

Meet Fishsticks, a sweet and friendly 8-month-old brown tabby who recently came to AFRP from the Salinas Shelter after being picked up as a stray. She has a tipped ear, so it looks like at one time she must have been living with a managed feral colony. This girl is very social with people and must have had a home at some point in her life. No tartar sauce necessary to enjoy Fishsticks, she great just as she is! Meet her at the AFRP Adoption Center in Pacific Grove.

Firefly
sponsor me

Firefly is a gorgeous 4-year-old Maine Coon mix. She has a long black coat with warm brown highlights. Adopted from us a year ago, Firefly was recently returned because she just didn't get along with the other cat in the home. This big girl would do best as a single cat, or could live with a gentle dog. Firefly loves playing with feather toys and finding a high perch where she can lounge and observe her kingdom. She enjoys being petted and brushed, and would do best in a fairly calm and quiet household. Meet Firefly at the AFRP Adoption Center in Pacific Grove.

Bulldog
sponsor me

Bulldog is a handsome 3-year-old grey tabby with a very unusual name! He came to us from the Salinas Shelter with a microchip that was accidentally registered to an English bulldog in Pennsylvania, so the name stuck! This sweet boy loves to be stroked and scratched under the chin. He doesn't mind being picked up, and turns on his purr motor to let you know how happy he is to spend time with you. He has a calm, friendly personality and will be an excellent companion for most any household. Meet Bulldog at the Pet Food Express adoption site at the Crossroads in Carmel.

Mango
Mango is a playful 5-month-old buff and white tabby who was raised in foster care from the time he was a bottle baby. Meet him at the AFRP Adoption Center in Pacific Grove.
Edward

Edward is about two years old, and has a gorgeous medium-long grey tabby coat and a big fluffy tail. He's a big boy, but still comforts himself like a little kitten by kneading on his cat bed when he's feeling insecure. Edward came to AFRP from the Salinas Animal Shelter after coming in as a stray. He gets along fine with other dogs and cats, and will make someone a wonderful companion. Meet Edward at the AFRP Adoption Center in Pacific Grove.
Tipsy
sponsor me

Tipsy is a special 10-year-old black kitty who recently returned to our care when her guardian lost their home. Tipsy is a sweet and friendly cat who gets along nicely with other felines and will rub up against you to ask for petting. The vet believes Tipsy suffered some sort of injury or trauma as a youngster, and thus the permanent quizzical tilt to her head. Her head-tilt does not bother her at all - in fact it gives her a cute appearance, almost as if she's about to ask you a question! Tipsy is a polydactyl cat and has an extra toe on her front paws. Some people believe this is good luck - we know that the person who adopts Tipsy will be very lucky indeed! Meet her at the Petsmart adoption site in Sand City.

Angel
Angel is a heavenly sweet 2-year-old white and grey kitty who came to us from the Salinas Animal Services as a mom cat with a litter of kittens. She was a wonderful mom and raised her kittens in foster care. Now that they are adopted, it's time for Angel to find a home. She is a playful, affectionate kitty who will follow you around the house like a little dog. She loves lap time and enjoys sleeping on the bed with you at night. Meet Angel at the Petsmart adoption site in Sand City.
Munchie
sponsor me

Munchie is a striking white and buff 8-month-old kitten who came to us from the Salinas Animal Shelter after being found as a stray in someone's garage. It appeared he was keeping himself warm in the car engine, and was covered with engine oil and had a scratch on his hind leg. Luckily he was not seriously injured, and is now a healthy, happy and frisky teen kitten looking for love. Muchie is a very active boy and loves to play, play, play! Guaranteed to bring a smile to your face every day. Meet Munchie at the AFRP Adoption Center in Pacific Grove.

Twiggy
sponsor me

Twiggy was found as a young kitten living under a dumpster behind the Petsmart in Salinas. Skinny and malnourished, she was nursed back to health and is now a beautiful 7-month-old bundle of purrs. Twiggy has a super soft medium-long coat, and she loves to climb onto your lap for attention and stroking. A bit reserved when meeting new people, Twiggy is very sweet and affectionate once she gets to know you. She has been in foster care with other cats and a dog, and gets along great with them. She would do best in a quiet home with an adopter that can allow her to adjust at her own pace. Meet Twiggy at the Petco adoption site at Del Monte Shopping Center in Monterey.

Sweet Caroline can be just as sweet as her name! She's a gorgeous 1-1/2 year old longhaired torbie who originally came to us from South Monterey County as a stray with an injured tail. She's all healed up now and ready for her forever home. Torbies are known for having some "catitude" and Sweet Caroline is no exception. She does NOT like other cats, and needs to be a single cat in the home. She'd do best with an experienced cat person who can read cat signals. This beautiful cat will be a wonderful companion for the person who is her soul mate. Meet her at the Petsmart adoption location on River Street in Santa Cruz.

This gorgeous blue-eyed Siamese mix came to us from the Monterey County Animal Services. Miss Molly was a mom cat who raised a litter of kittens in foster care, and is now looking for a home for herself. Once she gets to know you, Molly is a friendly talkative little cat who loves being stroked and rubbed on her belly. She would do best in a quiet, indoor home with a patient adopter that will give her time to adjust to new surroundings. Meet Miss Molly at the Pet Food Express adoption site at the Crossroads in Carmel.

Taken to the Salinas Animal Services to serve out her stray time, Robin came into our care when no owner came for her. Now she's hoping to catch the eye of the next person passing by her cage. . . or maybe the person after that. She promises to be a wonderful, affectionate companion cat. Outdoor Cats
Do you have a ranch, barn, greenhouse, workshop or studio that could be a safe haven for a feral cat or two? We often have a few cats in our care who have lived their whole lives outdoors, and are not comfortable in our adoption center. They will have already been spayed/neutered, and immunized. If you can provide food, water and shelter for feral cats who needs a safe, secure outdoor home, please contact us. We recommend a good cat fencing system that can be used for outdoor cats or for your indoor cats who want a safe outdoor adventure. Read more about cat enclosures.

But Magda doesn't get along well with the two other cats in the household, so she needs to move on to a new home where she can be the one-and-only resident kitty. Magda is very playful, but can get overstimulated so may not be an appropriate pet for young children. Magda is spayed, up to date on all her shots, negative for FIV and leukemia, and microchipped. Magda is not an AFRP cat. For more information please call Judith at 917-572-2267 or email bibska@gmail.com
Cooper
Cooper is a neutered 8 year old grey tuxedo. He is an indoor kitty looking for a new forever home. He has been with our family since she was 6 months old. He is a fantastic companion once he gets to know you. He loves affection. He's pretty laid back, but he can be playful too. Unexpected sounds frighten him at times. His favorite things are milk and cheese. If you have these things you'll be his best friend. He knows his name and will come when you call him. Cooper is not an AFRP cat. If you are interested in adopting Cooper please contact Tracy at 408.307.7763.
