AFRP only adopts out cats that have been spayed/neutered. The adoption fee is $150 which helps to cover the cost of all care the animal has received, including their spay/neuter, vaccines, microchipping, and FIV/FeLV testing. Adopters are encouraged to take their new AFRP cat to one of our participating vets for a free wellness check (see list of participating vets).

He was rescued from the streets of Salinas as a sick little kitten, and was raised in foster care. Billy loves attention and has a happy purr when he's sitting next to you on the sofa. Billy has been diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and is doing well on special gastrointestinal food and a small dose of prednisolone every other day. He remained very shy and wary for many months, but recently made a huge breakthrough and now enjoys rubbing up against legs and sitting on laps to ask for petting. He's a super mellow guy who is fantastic with other cats of all ages. Tootsie is a friendly 7-year-old brown tabby looking for love! She came to us from a rescue group in Los Angeles that had to close down. Before that she lived with a family that had to surrender her due to some landlord problems. Tootsie loves to rub up against you to ask for petting, and enjoys chasing laser toys and munching on cat grass. She is not overly fond of other cats, and would be in kitty heaven as your one-and-only kitty friend. Outdoor Cats
Do you have a ranch, barn, greenhouse, workshop or studio that could be a safe haven for a feral cat or two? We often have a few cats in our care who have lived their whole lives outdoors, and are not comfortable in our adoption center. They will have already been spayed/neutered, and immunized. If you can provide food, water and shelter for feral cats who needs a safe, secure outdoor home, please contact us. Posted 10-18-17. Tillie is a beautiful 3-year-old spayed female tortie-point Siamese mix with baby blue eyes. She recently lost her home when her elderly guardian had to move to a memory care facility. Tillie is currently being boarded at a vet clinic in Gilroy, because no family members were able to take her. Tillie is up to date on her vaccines and recently had a nail trim. She is litter box trained and has lived with another cat in the home, but has no experience with kids or dogs. Tillie was a very affectionate companion for her former guardian, and would sit on her lap or by her side. She will do best in a quiet, loving home. Tillie is not an AFRP cat. Renewed 9-19-17. Snowball is a 10-month-old Lynx Point Snowshoe Siamese kitten who was rescued from the side of I-5 when he was only 4 weeks old. Raised in foster care, Snowball is a beautiful blue-eyed cat with a sweet personality. He is a bit shy with new people but warms up nicely once he gets to know you. He was recently diagnosed with feline gingivitis which makes his gums tender and inflamed. It is possible that some or all of his teeth may need to be removed. Sunflower
Posted 1-25-17. Sunflower is a 1-year-old, 5-pound longhaired tabby with a personality that is just as sunny as her name! She is currently at local vet clinic after being surrendered with some serious health problems. Sunflower was underweight, anemic, and suffered from an infection and a congenital skeletal deformity. Happily, Sunflower is responding to treatment and is a friendly, cuddly kitty full of happy purrs. She is good with other cats, dogs and older kids. She may never walk with a normal gait, but she's grateful for a second chance! Sunflower is not an AFRP cat. Renewed 2-13-17. Rosie is a wonderful declawed grey and white kitty who is looking for a home after her owner could no longer care for her.
