AFRP only adopts out cats that have been spayed/neutered. The adoption fee is $150 which helps to cover the cost of all care the animal has received, including their spay/neuter, vaccines, microchipping, and FIV/FeLV testing. Adopters are encouraged to take their new AFRP cat to one of our participating vets for a free wellness check (see list of participating vets).

Gorgeous in grey! Arthur is a handsome 3-month-old Russian Blue mix kitten that came to AFRP from the Salinas Shelter and was raised in foster care. She and her siblings were rescued from a Burger King in South Monterey County, and were raised in foster care with lots of love and attention. Billy has been diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and is doing well on special gastrointestinal food and a small dose of prednisolone every other day. He remained very shy and wary for many months, but recently made a huge breakthrough and now enjoys rubbing up against legs and sitting on laps to ask for petting. He's a super mellow guy who is fantastic with other cats of all ages. Outdoor Cats
Do you have a ranch, barn, greenhouse, workshop or studio that could be a safe haven for a feral cat or two? We often have a few cats in our care who have lived their whole lives outdoors, and are not comfortable in our adoption center. They will have already been spayed/neutered, and immunized. If you can provide food, water and shelter for feral cats who needs a safe, secure outdoor home, please contact us. We recommend a good cat fencing system that can be used for outdoor cats or for your indoor cats who want a safe outdoor adventure. Read more about cat enclosures.

Posted 12-14-17. Patty was a stray, that caught the attention of a couple in Hollister, who began to feed her. Patty is now in foster care in Hollister and is spayed, had all her vaccines, tested and is microchipped. She is a very healthy young loving cat, and is in a foster home with two other cats. Posted 11-10-17. Pegasus is a healthy and friendly 6-year-old neutered male brown tabby looking for a temporary home while his guardian is away for 3-6 months. Pegasus has a very kind and easygoing personality. He enjoys attention but also likes to have some time to himself. Like most cats, Pegasus enjoys playing with and chasing cat toys. Renewed 9-19-17. Snowball is a 10-month-old Lynx Point Snowshoe Siamese kitten who was rescued from the side of I-5 when he was only 4 weeks old. Raised in foster care, Snowball is a beautiful blue-eyed cat with a sweet personality. He is a bit shy with new people but warms up nicely once he gets to know you. He was recently diagnosed with feline gingivitis which makes his gums tender and inflamed. It is possible that some or all of his teeth may need to be removed. Sunflower
Posted 1-25-17. Sunflower is a 1-year-old, 5-pound longhaired tabby with a personality that is just as sunny as her name! She is currently at local vet clinic after being surrendered with some serious health problems. Sunflower was underweight, anemic, and suffered from an infection and a congenital skeletal deformity. Happily, Sunflower is responding to treatment and is a friendly, cuddly kitty full of happy purrs. She is good with other cats, dogs and older kids. She may never walk with a normal gait, but she's grateful for a second chance! Sunflower is not an AFRP cat. Rosie
Renewed 2-13-17. Rosie is a wonderful declawed grey and white kitty who is looking for a home after her owner could no longer care for her. She is in long term boarding at East Lake Animal Hospital and is healthy, spayed, current on vaccines and was declawed by her previous owner.
