AFRP only adopts out cats that have been spayed/neutered. The adoption fee is $150 which helps to cover the cost of all care the animal has received, including their spay/neuter, vaccines, microchipping, and FIV/FeLV testing. Adopters are encouraged to take their new AFRP cat to one of our participating vets for a free wellness check (see list of participating vets).

Zephyr

Zephyr is a mellow, declawed 10-year-old tuxedo cat who lost his home two years ago when his family moved and could not take him along. He was adopted in 2013, but recently returned to us when he developed kidney disease. He is on a special diet and requires subcutaneous fluids once a week to help him stay hydrated. Bluebell was rescued by one of our feral TNR volunteers, and right away she was grateful to have a roof over her head, a soft bed and regular meals. Roo is a 1-year-old grey tabby with special needs. She came to us from the Salinas Shelter after coming in as an injured stray. Due to an old spinal injury, Roo is unable to use her hind legs like a normal cat, and instead she takes steps with her front legs, but hops like a bunny with her hind legs, which stay together when she moves. Roo is a super sweet and friendly girl who makes the most of her challenges and does not feel sorry for herself in the least. Lazy Daze is a 9-year-old orange female. She gets along nicly with other cats and with cat-friendly dogs. She is an alpha female so she holds her own. She is still very skittish with people but does tolerate petting after she gets to know you. Lazy Daze has had her lower teeth removed as she has a form of stomatitis and may need to have her uppers also removed at a later date. She still eats very well and feels much better now that the painful teeth have been removed. She would love a quiet indoor home where she can learn to bond with her new family. Do you have a ranch, barn, greenhouse, workshop or studio that could be a safe haven for a feral cat or two? We often have a few cats in our care who have lived their whole lives outdoors, and are not comfortable in our adoption center. They will have already been spayed/neutered, and immunized. If you can provide food, water and shelter for feral cats who needs a safe, secure outdoor home, please contact us. Gigi
Gigi is a wonderful 10-year-old spayed female black kitty looking for a home where she can be a single cat in the home. (She gets along great with dogs and birds - just not other cats!) Gigi loves hanging out with her human friends and has a very sweet and friendly personality. She is in perfect health and is up to date on vaccines and parasite preventative. Gigi is an indoor-only cat, and currently lives in San Juan Bautista. She is not an AFRP cat. Cassie and Chips
Cassie and Chips are a bonded pair of kitties that have been together their whole lives. They are about 16 years old but seem younger. Both need to lose some weight! They are curious and outgoing, both immediately started exploring their surroundings as soon as they arrived at my house. They also welcomed being pet and were happy to visit the food bowl. Their owner passed away last weekend and they are part of the "Caring Companions" foster program at Woods Humane Society in SLO. I took them in until a registered cat foster is available (I am actually a dog foster but they needed a place to go.) In the meantime, people can email Susan at: ssklee@pacbell.net
Luna
Luna is an 8-year-old spayed female brown tabby who lost her home when her owner took a job in Germany and could not take her along. She has a very sweet and laid-back personality and loves to lay on your lap. Luna is in good health and is up to date on shots. Her records are with Banfield Veterinary Clinic. She is a strictly indoor cat and is very talkative and is good company! Luna gets along fine with respectful dogs but would do best as a single cat in the home. Bandit
Bandit is a gorgeous 3-year-old Siamese mix with big blue eyes. He is neutered and up to date on vaccines. He was abandoned in a Salinas neighborhood and is currently being cared for by a kind neighbor. This nice boy deserves a loving home of his own. Bandit is not an AFRP cat. Max
Max is a 2-year-old neutered male brown tabby who was rescued from the streets and is now a playful and trusting little guy who loves attention. He is a talkative character with lots of personality. Max tested positive for FIV, which means he should be an indoor only cat. He is neutered and up to date on shots. FIV cats can live long and healthy lives, and can live with other friendly animals. FIV can only be passed to another cat through a deep bite wound. Max gets along great with dogs. Max is not an AFRP cat and currently lives in the LA area. Skippy
Skippy is a 14 year old male Snowshoe Siamese. He is a little shy at first, but once he knows you he loves to be a lap cat. Skippy grew up with a dog so could probably live with a dog who respects cats. Skippy's elderly guardian has Alzheimer's and is in a care facility. A family friend took over caring for Skippy 4 years ago, but now she is also elderly and broke her hip and his having trouble caring for Skippy as well. Skippy is not an AFRP cat.
