AFRP only adopts out cats that have been spayed/neutered. The adoption fee is $150 which helps to cover the cost of all care the animal has received, including their spay/neuter, vaccines, microchipping, and FIV/FeLV testing. Adopters are encouraged to take their new AFRP cat to one of our participating vets for a free wellness check (see list of participating vets).

Poland

Poland is a super-affectionate 2-year-old orange tabby with soft, medium-long fur and a gorgeous fluffy tail. She came to us as a young stray mama cat with a litter of kittens to care for. She raised her family in foster care and was an excellent mother. Now her kittens are adopted and Poland is ready for a home of her own. She's playful, curious and loves to be brushed. She enjoys following you around and will hop on your lap when you sit down. Offer her a kitty treat and she'll be your friend forever! She is good with other cats and dogs. Poland has an autoimmune skin condition called Pemphigus, and is on a very small dose of prednisone. She will need to be monitored for her lifetime. Read more about Poland. Hope and her friend Mercy, also on web, are 1-year-old blind cats who came to AFRP from a rescue organization in Vietnam. They are gentle and healthy cats that had been used as practice subjects for veterinary students learning eye removal techniques. The Kairos Coalition arranged for Hope and Mercy to make the journey to AFRP to give them a chance to recover and find their forever homes. Hope is a very sweet and petite girl with the coloring of an Abyssinian. Though completely blind, her other senses are very acute and she is able to map out her surroundings and even play with kitty toys! Hope and Mercy are looking for a safe, indoor home with an adopter that can give them the rich, happy life they deserve. They will do best without other dogs or cats in the household. Clara Bell

Clara Bell is a sweet and gentle 2- year-old grey and white cat who was born in an old school bus at a wrecking yard in south Monterey County. She was fed by an employee, but never had the luxury of living as a house cat. She loves to be petted and rolls over on her back when you rub her head. Beth is a tiny 16-year-old tuxedo girl who came to us from a rescue group in Los Angeles that had to close down. Sadly, Beth had been at their shelter since coming in as a semi-feral mother cat when she was only 1 year old. She is fine being near people but does not like to be touched. Though Beth is completely deaf, she greets you with a cute meow when you bring her food or kitty treats. She gets along fine with other cats, and enjoys snoozing in her bed or watching the world from a windowsill. Paws is a friendly 4-year-old brown tabby who has made a wonderful recovery after being injured in a car engine. A large patch of skin was torn off his hip area, which required weeks of bandaging before the wound could finally be stitched together. Paws is now feeling great, his wound has healed and he's ready for a family of his own. He's a super nice boy who enjoys sitting on laps and exploring his surroundings. Art
Art is a handsome 1-year-old buff tabby with a sweet and playful personality. He was born in foster care and is the last of his litter to be adopted. Art can be a bit shy with new people, but is a very gentle cat who will bond closely to you once he gets to know you. He gets along wonderfully with other felines and loves to chase his kitty toys. Art is known for his happy purr - his motor is constantly running! He has a chronically watery eye that is not contagious to other cats. Anya (aka Choo) is a beautiful and healthy 7-year-old spayed female Russian Blue mix who lost her home when her guardian had to move into housing that was not pet-friendly. Grease Monkey hitched a ride from King City to Nick's Garage in Greenfield in the engine of a car! When the hood was opened, he ran for his life and hid in the garage until he was trapped. Now 8 weeks old, Monkey has been to the vet for his neuter, vaccines and microchip. He is a feral kitten and will not do well at our busy adoption center. He was not fond of being touched at first, but he's doing better now. He's looking for a patient adopter willing to give him a chance. He can live as an outdoor kitty in a safe situation. Kona is a 4-year-old black cat looking for a very special adopter. She came to us from a shelter in Los Angeles that closed down. Sadly, Kona arrived at the L.A. shelter when she was only 12 weeks old, and has spent her entire life in a cage situation. Check out those eyes! Mint Julep came off the streets of south Monterey County as a young feral kitten. He was placed in foster care and now at 9 months he has become a wonderful house kitty. Mint Julep gets along great with well mannered dogs and most cats. He can get very possessive about his food when he's around other cats - probably a holdover from his days as a hungry street kitten. She's had a recent dental, bloodwork and exam. She is in good health other than having thyroid disease. Jet is a sweet and petite 12-15 year-old black cat who is ready for her luck to change. She lost her home when her owner became ill. With nobody to care for her, she wandered the grounds of a senior housing complex in Carmel Valley until being rescued by a concerned citizen. Jet is a very gentle and affectionate kitty who just wants a quiet home and a warm lap. She gets along fine with other friendly cats. Jet has been diagnosed with kidney failure and is on a special diet and subcutaneous fluids. If you have a soft spot in your heart for senior kitties, you'll love Jet. Smokey is a friendly 14-year-old senior cat who came to us from the Salinas Shelter after coming in as a stray with severe dental disease. He had ulcerations and badly infected gums which made it very difficult for him to eat. He coped by scooping up a bits of wet food with his paw, and then gingerly licking it off. He was treated with antibiotics and underwent several extractions, but may always need to be monitored for mouth issues related to stomatitis. This sweet boy also has a heart murmur and needs daily medication for hyperthyroidism. He's looking for a cat lover experienced with caring for senior felines. Smokey is currently in foster care. Lazy Daze

Lazy Daze is a six-year-old orange female. She gets along nicly with other cats and with cat-friendly dogs. She is an alpha female so she holds her own. She is still very skittish with people but does tolerate petting after she gets to know you. Lazy Daze has had her lower teeth removed as she has a form of stomatitis and may need to have her uppers also removed at a later date. She still eats very well and feels much better now that the painful teeth have been removed. She would love a quiet indoor home where she can learn to bond with her new family. Outdoor Cats
Do you have a ranch, barn, greenhouse, workshop or studio that could be a safe haven for a feral cat or two? We often have a few cats in our care who have lived their whole lives outdoors, and are not comfortable in our adoption center. They will have already been spayed/neutered, and immunized. If you can provide food, water and shelter for feral cats who needs a safe, secure outdoor home, please contact us. We recommend a good cat fencing system that can be used for outdoor cats or for your indoor cats who want a safe outdoor adventure. Read more about cat enclosures.

Ginger and Spice are beautiful 3-year-old sisters who lost their home when their owner moved to Canada and could not take them along. They are healthy, spayed and up to date on vaccines. They are good with children and have lived with a three-year-old toddler. They also do fine with other friendly cats, not much exposure to dogs. They are temporarily living in a garage with a family friend so they won't have to go to a shelter. Can you provide a safe and loving home for this sweet pair? PLEASE HELP! Sammy ( 7-year-old orange tabby) and Mow (5-year-old female brown tabby) are desperately in need of a new home due to a foreclosure. Pixel is a handsome 8-year-old grey tabby looking for a loving home due to a move. He is neutered, vaccinated microchipped and treated with Revolution to prevent fleas and worms. He's a friendly, mellow and relaxed cat and gets along great with children. Pixel is FIV+ and has mild feline asthma which is controlled with a feline inhaler. This makes him a poor candidate for making it out of a traditional shelter, so he needs your help! Cookie is a lovely 12-year-old longhaired orange tabby who lost her home when her beloved guardian passed away. She is very friendly, playful and enjoys getting attention and being petted. She has lived with teenagers but we are not sure if she has been around small children or other cats or dogs. Cookie is in good health and is not on any medications or special food. Her right eye has an old injury but there are no concerns with it. She is an indoor-only cat with no desire to go outside, even if the door is open! Max is a 2-year-old neutered male brown tabby who was rescued from the streets and is now a playful and trusting little guy who loves attention. He is a talkative character with lots of personality. Max tested positive for FIV, which means he should be an indoor only cat. He is neutered and up to date on shots. FIV cats can live long and healthy lives, and can live with other friendly animals. Sassafras (calico) and Boobie (black) are 5-year-old siblings who were rescued from the streets as young bottle kittens and are now in need of a new home together. Sweetie Pie is a senior neutered male grey tabby who is in need of a loving home. He loves to be petted and will lay there for hours as you gently stroke his fur. Sadly, he was dumped at a feral feeding station in Hollister. Luckily for Sweetie Pie, he was spotted and was taken to the vet for treatment. Skippy
Skippy is a 14 year old male Snowshoe Siamese. He is a little shy at first, but once he knows you he loves to be a lap cat. Skippy grew up with a dog so could probably live with a dog who respects cats. Skippy's elderly guardian has Alzheimer's and is in a care facility. A family friend took over caring for Skippy 4 years ago, but now she is also elderly and broke her hip and his having trouble caring for Skippy as well. Skippy is not an AFRP cat. Flower
Flower is an 18-month-old dilute tortoiseshell. She was a stray who turned up on the doorstep of a senior citizen. He thought Flower was just pudgy, until one day he saw the six kittens. He and his daughter brought them all inside to safety, had them all checked out by a vet, who prounced them healthy. Then ACGSRescue was contacted. Now the whole family is in a wonderful foster home in Hollister. The kittens get lots of cuddles and kisses from children and the foster Mum. Flower is a very social cat.
